Let's see who's honest. Wlad wins nearly every round, and get a TKO in the mid to later rounds. Johnson vs. Willard on film had may close rounds, some for Johnson, others for Willard. But Willard doesn't have the punch volume, speed, or accuracy of Klitschko, plus Wlad is an expert clincher, with far more than just Willard's right cross. Willard had virtually no defense. Wlad is hard to catch cleanly, moves well for a big man, and has a high guard. Johnson did not even attempt to clinch and maul Willard like he did vs. the 5'7-5'9" ( Burns & Flynn ) men he fought on film, so he wouldn't try it vs Wlad.
I don't know boys. I think Johnson has a really good chance. He's coming in at 225 here. And let's not fall for the 90's Bert Sugar pity party for Johnson being "a ghost of his former self, overweight." In reality he fought hard with a prime top ranked SHW for 25 rounds, so he's perfectly healthy. And has extra weight that he carries well to deal with the bigger fighter. It seems like he fought more bravely than Klitschkos opponents. He was trading punches with a 6'6 dangerous puncher. https://streamable.com/3zy4u
Please to inform me the great heavyweight victories of the Jack Johnson. Then we can stack them against the foes, head to head, of the Wlad.
I'd borrow money to bet it on Wlad in this one. Much, much better fighter than Willard; one-sided fight.
Going off Cyberboxingzone, I would say (no order): 1. Jim Jeffries 6 2 220lbs, 2. Sam McVey 5 10 220lbs , 3. Joe Jeanette 5 10 200lbs, 4. Sandy ferguson 6 3 220lbs, 5. Denver Ed Martin 6'3 200lbs, 6. Jack Munro 5 11 200lbs, 7. Jim Jeffords 6 4 200lbs, 8. Fred Russell 6 4 230lbs, 9. Victor McLaglen 6 3 195 lbs, 10. Tony Ross 5 9 210 lbs, 11. Al Kaufman 6 1 200lbs, 12. Frank Moran 6 1 200lbs, 13. Jim Johnson (though technically this was a draw) 6 3 240lbs, 14. Tom Cowler 6 1 220lbs, 15. Brad Simmons 6 212 lbs. That isnt too bad a list head to head. I would particularly like to see what guys who were not allowed to qualify for the top 15, like Langford, Burns, O Brien, Flynn, Ketchell do head to head with heavyweights number 16,17, 18,19 and 20 on Wlad's List. Any chance you could do a similar rund down of Wlads opponents so we can compare
So, number one is some recently fat guy who hadn't fought in 5 years and number 2 is a teenager who had less than a dozen fights to his name (and didn't weigh 220 at that time) and number 3 is another guy with about a dozen fights at best. Great list, brah.
Johnson fans ignore his troubles, and have excuses. The good news here, is this one would not go the distance. Ketchel, Burns, Flynn and Moran would not even rate among Wlad's top 15 title opponents.
