have American heavyweights been lacking heart lately?

    1. Rahman takes the easy way out against Toney.

    2. Thompson gives up when the going gets tough against Wlad.

    3. Taurus Sykes shows up for his paycheck and barely puts up a fight.

Whose the next Evander Holyfield and when is he coming out?

Dont forget that display by Chambers against Povetkin. How brutal was that? Povetkin basically said "im gonna die before this guy beats me" even though it was clear Chambers was the all around better boxer, he just didnt have the heart to go with it.

I think its mostly because these guys are largely kids who grew up quite middle class you know? They dont have the hunger somebody who grew up in poverty like Tyson, Foreman, Holyfield did. Meanwhile these Eastern European guys know its do or die. When I hear talk about how these guys have second jobs and college degrees lol, I just laugh and know they are gonna fade down the stretch. "**** this, I didnt get my degree to just get punched in the face". James Toney has that kind of drive, he was just born too small for the bigger heavies.

All joking aside, Chambers has some great skills, I still think there will be a day when Chambers will come into his own...

It seems that way, and could be a big reason American boxing isn't what it used to be overall, including popularity. I disagree with the notion of your economic status determining yor heart. Heart is universal and is in all places generally.

Didn't you post this exact same thread a couple days ago? Now you're just trolling.

American HWs suck. Thompson didn't give up. Lots of fighters quit, including some all-time greats, and it's not just an American thing. It's not like Vitali, Duran, Erik Morales, Luan Krasniqi and Popo Freitas all haven't prominently quit, and those guys ACTUALLY quit. Thompson didn't quit at all, Rahman punked out more than he quit, and Sykes is just a journeyman anyway.

Young American men are generally sent to Iraq to die these days.

Hence the lack of decent US Boxers

mosley has mad heart--he lived in his parents basement, jobless and played videogames without a care in th world. social class means very little. we just have to wait and see for a great fighter to come along.

Most American heavies simply aren't very good. That said, Lamon Brewster was all heart prior to getting badly injured, and Calvin Brock fought as well as he could against Wladimir.

I also was impressed by Witherspoon's heart against Arreola. It's a lack of talent, not heart.

They can't, because the US isn't sending a SHW to the olympics this year.
