Having a winning professional record against some pretty good opponents is an achievement you can be proud of if you ask me. Maybe you were an undefeated chamption and would look at things differently though.

Don't be sad, whats your boxing record?

I've fought the current number one super feather, number 3 lightweight and had the commonwealth champion on the floor twice before getting robbed, I was robbed against Hardcastle- was winning before been stopped against a top fighter in Steve Murray but finished on my feet at two days notice and took short notice irish title fight against ***an.

Its not all 20-0 prospects. I lacked a good trainer or promoter so couldn't train effectively and had to take silly matches. I could have fought 20 journeyman if I was with the right promoter but I always wanted to fight the best. Of my 16 fights I think 11 or 12 were short notice. Its not the way things should be done.

Put me in the ring with any sub top class fighter and I'll hold my own regardless of weight. And i'm not even fit. If I was fit and could train properly for a fight, even now I'd give myself a fair pop against anyone at my natural weight in the country.

Not me. It's better than 99% of boxers will ever accomplish. His amateur record dwarfs mine as well (which isn't that difficult but still). He never mouthed off in the first place about being a world champion so I'm not sure why you are giving him ****.

PS- thanks for the kudos guys, means a lot.

    I was 8-8 as a jnr amateur

19-4 as a senior and 9-6-1 as a pro, plus I had two unlicenced fights-

    So overall 38-18-1 (11 KO's) ain't too bad

I was only ever stopped by ***an and Murray- both retirements. I was only ever knocked down three times.

Hey don't worry mate, like I said I'll get my respect against anyone- so if he wants to pop down to my gym anytime I gurantee he leaves the ring with a little more respect then when he got in :good

All three of those records are good, 19-4 as a senior is fantastic. I like what you said about fighting good fighters, major respect for that. I'm fairly new to this forum, it's time for me to listen to guys like you....a record with losses isn't a bad record, people need to realise that.

Only a small amount of people has what it takes to even join a boxing gym, most people are intimidated by its demeans and take up fitness instead. Out of those people only a handful sticks with it, because most find out it's hard work and end up in the fitness gym anyway. Out of those people only a minority decides to even spar, because their boss might complain about a shiner, or because it hurts a little. Out of those a few compete in the amateurs. And out of those only a few stick with it after their first loss or hard match.

You get where I'm heading. Not many people have 41 amateur fights and 16 pro fights. What Jeff did is rather special. Not as special as a ******ed good looking lesbian astronaut becoming president of Burundi but pretty special. If that makes you sad you should be on suicide watch.

I'd also appreciate it if the "bum" talk remained in the General Boxing section because I don't like it.

Thanks, I'm working on all of the basics in the gym all the time now. I've watched this fight over and over and I saw that I need to keep looking up when i duck punches but keep my chin down all the same and I'll keep what you said in mind. I have a fight in September and I have some information on the guy - around my height (5ft5) and a little heavier because he is broader and very strong. I'll upload the fight afterwards win or lose, there should be a big improvement either way.
