I been watching some of their last few fights and i think they both have slowed down a bit!

I am not sure if it is the case with Manny as we will see very soon but floyd has slowed down considerably!

Over the last couple years, Pacquiao's hand speed has slowly been deteriorating, whereas Mayweather has been able to maintain his hand speed (particularly his one punch speed).

However, against Cotto, I noticed a fairly large deterioration in Mayweather's hand speed in comparison to his recent bouts going back to Marquez (particularly his one punch speed).

Of course but with Manny the decline has been rapid even his hand speed seems average lately, hopefully he could win his next match

    Yeah, I think so too.

I hope waiting for Manny to get old backfires on Floyd.

I think it's Pac. He fights much more often lately, he has to be deteriorating a bit faster because of that, I think.

It's hard to tell due to there styles. Manny = High volume Floyd = Accuracy and Countering

Both have, yes, but for different reasons.

Manny's been in a lot of wars and the effects of those are showing, his speed and reflexes have noticeably declined a bit. Compare the DLH and Hatton fight (when he was at his peak prime IMO) to that of the Mosely fight. There's a noticeable difference in his speed and condition. And he gets tired easily more often lately than before (and Pac was considered to have MONSTER levels of stamina).

Now with Floyd, he's a 35 year old man. His handspeed and even his footspeed have declined a bit, and age is the culprit here. Going up in weight doesn't help either, considering that he started in the 130 lb division and is now in the 154 lb division (this can also be attributed to Pac). However he compensates for those with his extremely high level fundamentals and boxing IQ. Also, I noticed that for the Cotto fight he trained much more to fight in the inside, you can see this with his sparring session with Omar Henry.

Both have definitely slowed down but what can you expect. Floyd is 35 and has had 43 pro fights, Manny is 33 and has had 59 pro fights.

The big difference for me is their style of fighting. Manny relies heavily on his physical gifts whereas Floyd is more technical so as there body slows Floyd can still use his technical gifts to stay at the top longer whereas its likely manny will have a quicker fall should should his speed and power desert him.

Manny is a lot more war torn as well, he has been in tough trilogy's with Marquez and Morrales and has been fighting a lot bigger guys lately whilst although dominant he will probably have felt the effects of their punches more.

Floyd is very hard to hit so he should have more longevity imo as he has taken less damage, has hardly been in anything that resembles a war and his style is made to last longer.

Against Cotto Floyd was caught a lot more than usual and wasn't as crisp as he was earlier in his career and his hand speed has took a slight decline, not that any of these factors are of a serious nature to wholely effect him yet, they are all still very good, just not as good as they used to be.

It will be interesting to see who and how he fights, he can make up excuses that he wanted to stand and fight Cotto all he wants but even against Ortiz, Mosley and Maruez he seemed to move around the ring less and trade up more. He has little power up at the higher weight also so it will be interesting to see if he stays up there if more guys are willing to try and walk through him.

As for Manny I would suggest he will retire before Floyd. The Marquez match up for me does not signal a fast decline as its a guy he struggles with stylistically and Marquez knows him inside out after two previous clashes.

Over the last year he does seem to have slowed in speed slightly and his relentless combinations he throws haven't been with as much vigour, whether that's due to styles I don't know but against Mosley and Marquez there were points when he was just throwing shots into thin air and hoping for the best rather than effectively placing them.

I think it will an interesting couple of years for both guys as they head into retirement. Apart from each other and possibly Martinez they don't have many challenges left at the weight (name wise anyway) but history tells us you can't fight the clock and there is always someone waiting on the borders wanting to make a name for themselves.

SRR, SRL, Ali, Charles etc etc etc fell to father time eventually and although there were said to be noone who could beat Tyson at the time Douglas popped up from nowhere and took him out so you never know whats around the corner.

Manny looked so slow and normal against Marquez cause he thought JMM was so old shot and bloated he would now be safe to fight without drugs, just as a tester for Mayweather

Mayweather looked slow and easier to hit to try and lure Manny in. If he'd kept fighting the way he was R1-4, that would have killed any remaining demand for the fight

Yes. Certain aspects of both their games have improved though. Overall, they are worse fighters than they were 30 months ago.

Both Pac and Floyd isn't near as good as they were a couple of years ago..
I think Manny has slowed down more, he relies more on his firepower to beat his foes than Floyd does, he is also more battle worn than Floyd is..
