I can't be sure if Floyd has slowed as much as Sat. night's performance says he has. We have to factor in the situation with Floyd being sick. I heard that he was sick during the final press conference. I know that when I don't feel well, it is very difficult for me to even get out of the bed. Going to the bathroom is an energy draining activity. Prior to last Sat. I did notice Floyd has slowed down a mite. He missed a couple of counter right hands in the corner against both Mosley and Ortiz. Shots he wouldn't have missed a few years back.

I don't think Manny has slowed down. We've been saw Manny begin to fade in look sluggish in 2008 against Marquez. He didn't slow down, he just gave the drugs a rest for 1 or 2 fights. Floyd has slowed a bit. Manny just laid off of the sauce. Without the sauce, Manny is human. On the sauce, Manny can throw 1,200-1,500 punches in 12 rounds and have the energy to go for 12 more. Pacquiao has been involved with PEDs and there's no way to convince me otherwise. He wants a 50/50 but he was given the 50/50 when the fight was going to do astronomical numbers and he turned it down because of a drug test? There aint that much of ego in the world to supercede that amount of money. Boxers, say no to drugs.

I thought we all realised this before the other night? To be honest though, all the talk of Mayweather legs recently, I thought he looked strong on them last when he decided to move he wasn't as bad as I thought the would be.

Alittle, but I think it has to do more with them 2 taking tougher fights as of late. Raise the quality of your opponents and have an even playing field you wont look so fast and invincible.

Both have slowed to some degree. The difference to me is that Floyd has lost overall speed. His legs and upper-body-movement had been slowing for years but his hand-speed still remained very high until more recently. Maybe not like he was a LW, but still quick considering the weight-class. Aging and inactivity doesn't help.

Pac on the other hand maintained a high level overall speed for longer than I originally thought he would have. I thought once he hit 30 his legs would have faded more. But it didn't happen. His feet have still been damn quick. I'm not sure how quick compared but still fast.

Now I could be wrong and it might be just that Pac is gifted like that...but I do think he was helped by Ariza's training which can be tuned into working on speed and explosiveness. Modern techniques/drills that are specific to building you to a high level.
Which is also why I wondered years ago when Floyd was showing signs of decline if he wasn't doing these drills, why not?
I've never seen him do these type of drills. But maybe I missed it or they don't capture it on film. Could be. Doesn't seem to be working.
Lots of athletes do them. It's one thing to run, and that's great, but you need specific drills to keep your legs lightning fast and agile. The same with upper-body-movement. But eventually it doesn't matter. Everyone declines.

That said: Pac's 33 years of age. And I don't care who is training you...everyone eventually slows down with age. And I would pay attention to each fight because once your in your 30's, to me, you can tail off much quicker.
So I'm for him getting out soon especially since his ability relies more on athleticism than Floyd. Floyd should retire soon as well.

I think fighters in their 30's are also more likely to have ups and downs. More "off-nights." And especially find themselves over-training because they may not be ad******g their training to suit their age and recovery time.

So to sum it up...both have declined. Just depends on how much each have.

yes, and not surprising...going up through the weights they would anyway
i think thats the last of 'great' maywather now...and he was truly great again against cotto...but, i think, jail time and getting older will see deterioration in him from now onwards.

I agree but I also think it's the weight, it was the exact same thing in the fishnet bout. Floyds the **** at 47, 54 not so much. Still good.
