i'd have to go with tex cobb, jorge paez and ricardo mayorga. they were each, in their way, ridiculous beyond belief in and out of the ring, crazy tough in the ring and just plain crazy when forced into more normative settings outside the ring. i assemble this cast, in part, because it is actually possible considering they are all still alive and living in within a plane ticket of one another (and me). i've met all three and i can tell you, your wildest imaginings of how truly unusual a character each is cannot compare to the reality. anyone on these boards who has met them can, i am sure, back me on this. in addition, i think the most interesting part of such a dinner might be that, at unpredictable moments, these guys--each in his own way--sort of fall out of the absurdist character and into a strangely probing and introspective seriousness full of both weird emotion and bizarre humble reflectiveness. it'd be a dinner where more than a steak was well done or rare, i think.
Hopkins, Toney and Jermain Taylor. On Father's Day so Bernard could draw them some nice cards and spend the day with them.
