At the MMA school I trained at it was mostly Muay Thia and they tried to break me of the habit of rolling under a punch and countering with a hook in the inside. The said that is put me close enough to be grabbed and kneed. This makes sense. It also makes sense not to do it in a street fight because I could get grabbed and that would nuertralize my boxing.

I have never seen anyone in an MMA match roll to the inside and counter with a hook. I guess it is not practical. Does anyone disagree?

Vicious circle. They don't train for it, so it doesn't become second nature to do it. Conversely, because it's not instinctive; it isn't advisable for them to try it. Some guys probably do have the speed and athleticism that they could get away with it if they incorporated it into their routine, but like you said it goes against MMA sensibilities so nobody does.

but if you were a thai clinch master, why not? also they never go to the body it seems and when someone does it usually does great work. I've seen several ko's and knockdowns from solid body shots. melvin guillard scored a ko after landing only three or four straight rights to the pit of the stomach.

    bodywork is way underrated.

Alessio Sakara vs. Houston Alexander. Sakara got caught with the same thing you are describing, i believe.
