Have Froch, Kessler, and Abe just been "off" in the Super 6?

I am a fan of boxing and there is no need for your ignorant name calling. yes I do support some fighters more then others, LIKE 99% of this forum and YES he did dominate that fight, there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, JT did or COULD HAVE done to change the rhytm of that fight.

    1. AA does not need to engage for most of the fight. ALL STRATEGIC.
2.He does not have the best stamina, BUT, carries his power to the last second of the 12th like it is the first.
    3. Actually he was highly accurate in that fight, moreso then other fights he has been in.
That is not a subpar performance, your opinion only and majority of posters will agree it was one of AA's best performances.
    Good luck with your thread.:thumbsup

Any heavy handed fighter smart enough to step-over and throw right hand bombs would have knocked Abraham out that night. You said in your first post that he looks like a counter puncher's wet dream, and I agree, but I also think a good boxer/puncher who can think on his feet would make AA an easy nights work.

    Abraham didn't look bad.

Froch looked bad because he is bad.

Kessler looked bad, but it didn't make any difference.

You can analyze AA all you want, but the fact is that he nearly always starts by doing nothing the first 4 rounds, he looks inactive and unable to take control, but then he start setting his opponent up for power punches and as long as he keeps knocking ppl out what's the problem? It's like saying a technically sound guy like Ward isn't impressive because he is just waiting to get KO'ed by a big puncher. Boxers have flaws, you don't change a winning strategy, and this is probably the best way to box for AA. His style is not suited for all other styles, but neither is the other elite fighters at smw. Don't underestimate this guy just because you think he looks easy to beat.

  8. O.k., so you agree with me that he wasn't engaging. So, if this is the case, (which it was), how is it that he is winning those rounds that he wasn't engaging in? You say he dominated, but how did he dominate if he was just sitting back while JT threw jabs/body shots, etc. on the outside? And, as far as Abe looking more impressive in this fight than some recent others, well, I disagree. He looked MUCH better against Miranda and that's just one example.

  9. I'll say it right now, Dirrell is a terrible style match-up for Abe. Abe better hope and pray he can KO Andre.

Ward has his referee in the fight who saw nothing - and Ward prepared for that exactly. So now it will read "Ward by TD".

Had Kessler had his referee in there this fight would have been written in the books as "Kessler by DQ".

I agree, I'm just saying that just because he's not looking impressive to you doesn't mean he can't be effective. He's got the high guard with those huge forearms, a chin that's rock solid, strong will and a powerfull punch. That counts for something, and he's more durable than any other fighter in the super six as I see it. Dirrell has Abraham next?

aint seen kessler ward fight yet so cant comment

    AA looked good imo
    froch looked bad
dirrel looked even worse, where they get this guy
    JT speaks for himself

  13. I'm not discounting you points, Phierl, really I'm not. I've just been unimpressed with the three of them as a whole. Like, really unimpressed. I mean, I expected Abe to KO Jermain because JT has a way of disappointing. But, I just didn't like what I saw from Abe generally speaking. I don't like to see a guy hold his guard high round after round doing nothing and then when he gets tired, totally lets his guard down. He just looked off to me. As I previously stated, he looked MUCH better against Miranda.

I suppose you mean the second fight with Miranda. Yeah he looked very good against Miranda away from his comfort zone, but I don't think he has gotten worse since that fight. I think there could be several reasons why he was more, let's call it cautious, against JT, for one he didn't hold the same grudge against him as he did against Miranda. Fighting away from home probably also served as a big incensitive to start earlier and finish the fight. At home he knows he is bound to get a decision in a close fight. I think AA fought as I expected without dissapointing.
Froch vs Dirrell fight was a weird fight that I though Dirrell won, and Froch dissapointed big time talking like he was the next ruler of smw.
As for my man Kessler he tripped already and with all the cuts and the frustration, I think he can pick himself up to win his next fights.
But yeah I think I agree with you on this the more or less estabelished champs Froch and Kessler dissapointed.

BTW I personally find it very hard to read AA in fights, sometimes I think he's tiring, sometimes I think he doesn't have a plan, but at the same time he seems very calm. He's explosive and I would love to se AA fight a guy like Dirrell just to see how he would cope with his style. One of the potential battles would also involve AA against Froch, I'd like to see how the build up and the actual fight would unfold.
