I somewhat think so. He has flaws that are unfixable, in my honest opinion.

    Firstly, Heart...
His desire to hit you right back after getting hit (Temperment).

I respect Ortiz he like many prospects is promised a quick title and early TV coverage and to be a star but he lost....most guys like him just fade away into nothing. He bounced back and is fighting well I wish more young prospects would lose early and not fight to protect that precious 0

Berto and Ortiz are both in a **** or get off the pot position winner stays on board loser is out they are cutting the fat

What exactly have they invested in him ??? , he's never topped a PPV event , yes he would have been paid better than most fighters at his stage , but they didnt give Ortiz the expected push they were anticipating , so at this stage its nothing lost .

Ortiz has said he wants to move to 147 , he is out growing 140 , that is clearly a major factor in the fight too , and who's to say he wont beat Berto , its not a foregone conclusion that Berto is gonna dish out a beating , not by any means .

Berto himself is a young pro , what is he 26 & 0 , and Ortiz 23 - 3 - 1 something like that , the level of opponents they have faced is pretty similar , i actually think this could be a master stroke by GB , ive gotta be honest i dont see this as a detrimental move towards there fighter , not really , its time Ortiz manned up basically , and with the expectations now considerably lower , its a case of why the **** not !!!

Flip side , its hard to get your fighter a world title shot against a supposid elite level fighter in a weight class above your own after a mediocre result !!! , you have to take these type of opportunities in boxing .

For what its worth , GB will not be holding that draw against Ortiz as they will feel he won the fight , as most do !!!

kind of a test for both who have been disapointing in performance or opponents faced.

both have the power to KO the other.but both arent all that great, bertos probably got more ring smarts, but hes not been tested yet, ortiz has,and he failed the test of smarts and heart.

It's a possibility. In a way, they may be as frustrated as all of us are with him. He appears to have it all, power, composure, accuracy, good speed, the ability to box or bang. But it looks like he couldn't care less about the sport. His jubilant expression at the Peterson result was baffling, he looked genuinely happy, it was bizarre. This could be HBO basically telling him that this is it, you're getting a big fight, a world title fight, and you better get your act together for it or else this is it.

Or maybe they realise that neither fighter looks like they're going anywhere(Berto is ordinary, Ortiz has no heart), and that if they feed one to the other they can still keep the winner going and trying to build them up as they already have been, using this victory as justification.

This would seem logical, although I think HBO have plans for Berto, I thin this fight has been made with Berto's well-being the priority. The same can't be said about Ortiz though.

His career is over with??? You guys are too quick to write off fighters man....:rofl:rofl

If he loses, yeah, his career takes a dive but he can always still drop back down to 140 and challenge for a title (barring he can make that weight).. plus he can fight fighters like N'dou, Gomez, or Malignaggi at 147 to get back in the mix... DON'T GET ME WRONG.. i think Berto should be favored in this fight.. but even if Ortiz loses, he can still go back to the drawing board and work his way back up.. we're acting like he's NOT talented.... it's jsut too early a fight like Berto, especially after that draw he had

    I'm not saying I don't like this fight, because I do. It's a competitive match-up.

I'm just pointing out that it is very irregular for GPB to do this with one of their top prospects. It's not like them to make a match like this.

Another way you can look at it is, they're taking Ortiz out of the 140 division. That means they're taking him away from Bradley, Khan, Alexander, Maidana, Kotelnik etc and therefore lessening the possibility of him being put in fights where he is potentially shown up again. 147 doesn't offer an awful lot of danger to him, he obviously doesn't fight May/Pac, Clottey is moving up, Cintron, Margarito have already moved up, Mosley will be finished by Pacquiao etc. In truth, they're putting him in a fight he could very well win, but even if he doesn't, putting him in a division where there are less obstacles in his path.

I'm honestly sick and tired of Berto.. so I'm routing for Ortiz to knock him off his high horse.... Ortiz is def. the underdog but I', hoping he can pull off the upset

So unlike others.. I'm looking forward to this fight, it's better than a lot of crap GBP and TOp Rank try to sell us...

It's more throwing 2 hypejobs unto another. Berto/wolf? Berto is just a puppy wolf, relying on being served regurgitated food by HBO.

Compared to the likes of Vivian Harris and Nate Campbell, aswell as considering Berto's stance with HBO and undefeated champion status, he is something of a Wolf.
