    it's been a long ass time and i haven't seen an official announcement yet. arum said it did over 450k but you can't really take anything he says serious. usually the numbers are announced within 2 weeks of the fight.

    You make a good point here, I haven't seen any link either, just one think from Fightnews about what Bob Arum said.

    Great numbers. Specially considering the promoting for this fight was terrible.
    Imagine a 24-7 on both of these guys.
    I can guarantee the rematch does even better.
    I dont understand why DLH wouldnt fight Margarito since Margaritos last PPV did 450K compared to Pacs 200K (at the most). And even if you want to compare the PPV Pac did with JMM which was around 400K i believe Margarito still comes out on top

    I still think a Margo match up would do better financially.

    That's because Margarito fought a big-name in Cotto and Pac fought an unknown in Diaz, major difference there.

    There were no articles announcing the numbers, though Dan Rafael did have a blog about the success of the PPV. During a recent chat on ESPN.COM someone asked how believable were the numbers coming from Arum, and Rafael mentioned he confirmed the figures (450K) with numerous individuals at HBO.

    Yes but look at the JMM fight. JMM was a bigger name than Margarito was at the moment of the Cotto fight. Those 2 fights were very similar.
    Pac=Cotto
    JMM=Margarito

    Cotto-Margarito still came out on top. Now that Margarito beat Cotto he is the man and im sure he will do very good PPVs from now on. Although it was a bad idea to match him up with Clotty because he is probably the least known of the top WW. I would have waited for Mosley or Judah. Then Clottey.
