Have we been too harsh on Kell Brook?

Porter pushed Spence all the way last night with many general forumers calling the fight for Porter.

That Aussie chippendale poleaxed Jeff Horn the other night.

There are many peope who subscribe to the theory that Brook was drained for the Spence fight and he shouldn't have taken it the first fight back from surgery.

The Porter win is looking better and better over time - remains the only fighter with a clean victory over Porter (I had him beating Thurman, very close vs Spence).

What are peoples thoughts? Have we written him off too early?

Or should we still be disappointed that his career has been so misguided (Blame should be shared equally between fighter and promo)

    Thoughts?

Porter dealt with Errol`s jab better than Brook did and showed better footwork, he has improved while Brook has stagnated.

1 fighter following the fight and his first defeat, took it on board, trained like an animal, showed pure dedication to the sport, fought the best of the best in the division which helped him perfect his craft and has gone onto become an an elite level fighter in the division when people like me thought that he was only going to be a strong bull.

The other fighter after winning the fight/ title, fought average bums like Gavin, nearly had his leg cut off after some kind of “incident” which probably involved coke and other stuff none of us want to know about, stuck with a promoter who couldn’t deliver so in desperation for a good payday, allowed himself to be chucked into a fight against a beast that he couldn’t win and had his eye and punch resistance destroyed.

I was / am a Brook fan but it’s obvious he just wants to cash out as otherwise he’d have had a competitive fight in the spring / summer

Brook is a wasted talent and has been mismanaged/promoted throughout his career.

Kell Brook is a shot fighter.

Shawn porter steamrolls him in six rounds now at 147

    I would have to agree.

Brook is definitely a case of what may have been.

Fustrating fact - was offered the Cotto fight first instead of Sadam Ali and had to turn it down because he was out of shape. That would have probably catapulted him back into contention.

    Sad really.

Prior to the eye going he was well in that Spence Jnr fight, once the eye went it was the end of his career as a top level fighter. I think we're harsh on him but only because of the waste of talent. He could have achieved so much more but seemed obsessed with a fight that is probably never going to happen, probably costing himself a few million in not taking or having other fights in the process, the irony being that Khan has been coining it in the whole time, whoever the opponent.

For me since their fight porter has improved while brook has declined.

Brook should have tried to unify at the time instead of those poor defences, fighting ggg was a big mistake and he hasn’t really been the same since. Shame really because when you watch back the fight he had with porter he was so sharp! The way he was timing porter and getting him to walk on to the 1-2 really was great to watch.

I’d have preferred to seen him in with someone like bundu or algieri instead of that fight with Rabchanka

33 and inactive I think he’ll have a stay busy fight in December and cash out early 2020 against maybe mungia or Garcia, can’t see him getting in with Hurd or Charlo and it’s obvious khan doesn’t want it

Brooks one of those fighters that leaves me so disappointed as a boxing fan in a fighter, he could have done so much more with the skills he had, yet he was left wandering in no man's land the majority of his career, it saddens me how it all went. A fighter pretty solid in all areas as kell, he certainly should have done so much more, what a waste.

Brook beat Porter comfortably, that was a fun fight and I enjoyed watching it. Kell had laser like precision back then.
He spent 14 years at welter and should have moved up but instead faced GGG and we know the rest.

And yes he absolutely had no business boiling down to 147 and facing Spence.
