Have we seen the best of GGG?

I don't think that gear was ever there it's just the fighters before didn't bring an athletic package in the form that Danny did.

 

He didn't look like a spoiler at 41 against 175 Tarver. At 35 he still had a great pair of legs on him. He didn't slow down and become a spoiler till much later.

GGG may have looked better 5 years ago but it was against much lesser bodies so whose to know if he wouldn't have looked the same against Jacobs at any age. Jacobs and Lemmie are his best wins. Jacobs deserved it imo and Lemmie is a good win but he's hardly a world beater.

 

Hopkins started to change his style around the time he fought Vanderpool and Echols. He was around 35 years then. I know because I watched all his fights from the 90s and 2000s on youtube.

Leon Spinks was a 10-1 underdog and didn't just offer HOF level Muhammad Ali a toss up fight, he beat him.

Just one example that came straight to mind.

34 isn't that old. Not in todays era.
Calzaghe , Froch , Jones , Toney .. Mayweather ..even Pacman were all prime at that age. Loads more too. Even Pacman now at 37 is still formidable.

 

Roy was outstanding. But did he blitz everyone he fought? Hell no.

I do think so myself but then again it is an obvious thing that when they get to this age a year can make all the difference

 

Put it this way if Oscar and Canelo tried to put the fight off another year in September so he ages even more,it'd look bad and not only that if Canelo won it would take the gloss off a massive victory.
GGG looks to be slowing down to me.

 

I saw a GG who raised his game. When you raise your level of cop the kos go down. I was impressed by GG. Don't know what you were watching. Lots of fighters got kos in prime and decisions past prime. GG is no different. He beat a prime Jacobs and it doesn't get any better than that bruh...

 

Where did I say : "you cant knock out everyone."

I said : "I can't think of a single fighter who just absolutely blitzed everyone they ever fought".

By blitzed, I meant dominated, and GGG didn't dominate Jacobs. But he beat him.

The point I was making is, even the best don't absolutely dominate every opponent they ever meet - and I stand by that because history supports it.

 

Pacman and Mayweather are top of the top level though no way you can compare GGG to them. as for the others Calzaghe fought other older fighters ( hopkins, rjj) and fighters like hopkins really look for fighters who suit their style. GGG even now can still beat most MW but last night he fought a bigger, faster guy with maybe just as much power.
