The point is I really believe from what I've seen Schaefer thinks GBP is the gorilla in the room and thinks they can go it alone. I think he believes he can put TR out of business. He had the upper hand with HBO and got greedy and got TR shut out of Sho. I'll bet he was blind sided when HBO told him to get lost. He thought he had Sho to himself and 2/3's of HBO.
when him and Oscar break up, he will start his own promotional company and it will be hilarious watching them argue back and forth on Boxing Media Takeout aka the Scene
I think Schaeffer's starting to show signs of pressure/concern. HBO made and started GB for all intents and purposes to try and control the sport better. It was a failed experiment that kind of backfired. If GB doesn't put up some great shows and boost Showtime's sports, they're ff'd. Imagine what Schaeffer thinks about the idea of Alvarez losing to Trout and Floyd losing/imploding. Broner's already looking like a basketcase as well and he's not even reached that ppv level.
Sampson is credible here because he threw a public shot and then aired dirty laundry through the media? Sounds like a normal, promoter vs manager beef that will be squashed next time they can make money together.
Methinks Sampson is in bed with Top Rank now. For years he bashed Arum, then when the Martinez vs. Chavez fight was finally made, Sampson began praising Arum as a great. All this back and forth between the networks and the promoters is ****ing ridiculous. atsch
Yeah, Schaefer is a proven hot head but some numb skulls here refuse to see it. A lot of this can be buried when it comes to money but this looks a tad more serious. I think Schaefer believed his own hype and thought he/GBP was in the drivers seat and could drive boxing. I doubt CBS puts the effort into Sho, especially boxing, that most people seem to think will happen. There are bigger, more proven sports and boxing still has the taint of corruption.
The promoters has been a lot of bull for a long time but the network issue is going to make this split long and deep I'm afraid. Schaefer/GBP got their guy Espinoza into Sho and thought they were still solid with HBO. They made a huge power play here and it will backfire if CBS doesn't pour money into Sho for boxing and I just don't see that happening.
This f*cking Top Rank circle jerker Hermit would be the one to make a thread about Richard f*cking Schaefer...how can you ride nuts that hard? :rofl
Sorry you can't appreciate the finer aspects of the business side. Your loss not being able to be objective though.
Yesterday I wasn't a coke snorting transvestite..... Do you guys even have the capacity to form a thought on your own before posting? Serious question, all I see are canned regurgitations of old axe replies. No wonder boxing is in such a sad state.
Seems to me Golden Boy are starting to crack. They have burned some serious bridges and to lose HBO is a serious blow to their biz. They made their bed-now they got to lay in it.
