for a long time I was a basic boxer puncher... but as a entered college I have gained a little bit of weight and lost some speed, so it became a less effective style. I have now started to mimic Arthur Abrahams style and its been incredibly effective. It conserves my energy and frustrates my opponents. its incredible efficient. anyone else done something similar?

I fight it hard because im a right-handed southpaw who likes to counter-punch and there isnt many like that that I know of.

I can see a fighter trying to do something that idol does, but actually trying to jock his style? I see that has impossible to do. Different people have different gifts. You trying to jock some else will only limit you.

When I was boxing I tried doing the shoulder roll one day during sparring out of town. It worked out with a few guys alright. Then this southpaw came in with me...OMG! My right jaw still locks up on me sometimes lol. Very, very bad move lol.

as a teenager and young college student I loved Judah and tried to fight like a right handed version of him. Unfortunately it came out as a right handed Cory Spinks. Ive been booed at two of my wins.

I chose Abraham because I have a similar build, I am also 5 10 and Im 175... im not quite as ripped though haha. but yes I agree... a 220 pound man should not try to fight like Naseem Hamed for example lol.

Against really inexperienced/bad guys I would do my best Hamed impressions.

  10. I try to fight like Juan Manuel Marquez, but i try to be more defensive.

Didn't try to immitate him, just did what came natural to me but one of my coaches said he was really reminded of me when he watched Alfredo Angulo for the first time.

  12. I like to box/fight aswell. Some people just love beating the **** out of thier opponant though. Whtever floats your boat.

Not a single fighter, but I copy aspects of whatever fighter I watch a lot at that moment. Sometimes on purpose, but often without knowing.

I think its a good thing tbh.. Gives you focus, direction and a game plan. Choose the right fighter against the right opponent. PS all you are copying style wise is muscle memory with regards to hand positioning and delivery.

Exactly. And the more different things you copy, the more coordinated you will get. It's natural, that's how a human being learns.
