I tend to hold my hands in the same style Ward does and try to fight like Raushee Warren a lot but its a real tiring style to use. And of course everyone has tried the shouldr roll. I use it only when on the ropes because 9 times out of 10 that right hand is coming which is the best way to avoid it and throw the counter right. Would love to fight like Devon Alexander or Zab Judah fighting in the pocket which is an awesome style. But I feel my main advantage is my footwork and hand speed and that style is best to fight like Raushee Warren. You don't really use your feet fighting like Alexander.
I once tried to fight like Mayweather and got murked, busted nose and a hurting head. Hands up for me from then on!
A bit like Povetkin when he was an amateur. Watched him in detail all the time and mimicked his style.
Tyson because when I went to the gym at 17 I was a lean as they come 235lb 5'11 guy. Even 6ft 6 guys coppy Tyson!
No, I take things from fighters which work for me. I couldn't pull off a Mayweather so I don't try it, but I do take things from some fighters.
Trying to mimic Mayweather's style in the gym really gave me an appreciation for his skill. I watched Chavez v. May and tried to block bodypunches and pull an instant uppercut counter- that **** was impossible. The body punch pushes you out of position unless you have perfect footwork and great strength.
I'm mimicking Tyson at the moment as well. It's the most friendly style for my shoulder injury because there's barely any movement in the arms themselves.
No I've never tried to mimic any pro boxers I've seen. I guess I am a pressure fighter (not by choice but by necessity....being 5'6 at 155), so guys like AA, steadily moving forward, Tyson, foreman. IdK
I've tried to mimic pacquiao, wayyy too much energy needed. Tried to mimic Ali when I first got into boxing, got merked.
If it's a slow day trying to emulate how guillermo rigondeaux fights, trying to work out well schooled style. Sit in balanced stance sticking out the jab.
I like to take little movements and tricks from any fighter aslong as they feel natural to me and take advantage of my biomechanical proportions/build up and preferances while in the ring.
i try to fight like tyson cos he's the boxer i've watched the most of, but also cos i like it, getting in as close as possible and just hitting ****, it makes me happy
Two great guys to emulate. Frazier's style is so simple but requires you to be in such great shape that it's almost impossible for most people to use it successfully past the Amateurs. Successfully mimicking Quarry's style is gonna take you a while. He basically did everything well...good timing, good feet, good hand speed, good pop. Good job man.
