I’ve been to two live cards; Vladimir Klitschko vs Jameel McCline with FMJ vs JLC 2 on the undercard. Also, I saw Michael Moorer vs Vassily Jirov.
The Moorer / Jirov fight featured two guys both past their best but with still good name recognition. Without checking, I believe Moorer stopped Jirov but don’t remember anything special about the fight. I do remember there was a real fat heavyweight who fought and then came and sat in front of me- this may have been Chris Arreola before he was known but I’m not sure.
As for the klitschko / mccline card, Floyd pretty much shut Castillo down which may have been the beginning of his boring style. If you told me then that he’d go on to be the biggest ppv attraction in history I wouldn’t have believed it. The klitschko fight wasn’t too special and I think mccline was either stopped or didn’t come out for the start of the 10th round.
The real highlight of that card was when Mike Tyson showed up with a girl on each arm and all the lights were focused on him.

I've been to plenty of amateur shows in the uk

Saw Anthony Joshua early on fight some fat guy, fatty walked in with an entourage and had one of the biggest wildest left hooks I'd ever seen, AJ timed him with a body shot and fat guy was rolling around the ring in pain for a good 5 minutes

Not as many as I'd like but my friends don't share the same passion. I was at GGG-Brook and AJ-Breazeale, which I guess were big 'events'. I'll be at Josh Taylor's next fight; the atmosphere at his fight with Davies was awesome.

Been to a few, nothing huge though.
Kingsley Ikeke vs Antwun Echols - really thought at the time Kingsley would turn out to be better than he did
Sechew Powell vs Cornelius Bundrage - Wow, the drama of this one!
Dominick Guinn vs Otis Tisdale - thought Guinn would be the next HW champ - wrong again!

much easier when you live in london to go to the big fights than anywhere else in the world i would guess

    been to
    york hall
    lewisham theatre
    alexander palace
    royal albert hall
    wembley arena
    shepards bush
    02

would have liked to have gone to but never went to
    finsbury park
    wembley stadium
    white hart lane

also one that i was pissed off about the xl for the olympics and athletics
put my name down as living in newham
i still work at rathbone market which is a bout as near as you can get to the xl / and still never got a single ticket for any of the olympic boxing sessions
never got any for the athletic sessions either despite being from stratford.

I thought the same thing about Guinn. I forget who he fought, it was some African guy -Duncan Dokiwari or Friday someone- but it was a real slugfest foty type fight. Guinn was skilled and composed. I think I remember Larry Merchant saying he was the most talented American since Riddick Bowe.

    Most of Hatton's and Calzaghe's
Loads of amateur fights in Birmingham.
I would have to have a ticket given to me to go to fights now that are televised. Few pints with the lad, then back to someone's house for the best view of a boxing match money can buy. Good atmospheres at fights, but realistically your watching it when you get home for a proper view/analysis

Fun info, just when Guinn turned pro he was at Top Rank in Vegas and Dokiwari was training there at the same time, Dokiwari looked like the Predator with his dreads&giant muscles and had just abused someone in sparring, Guinn said that he said to himself at that time “I hope I never have to fight him”, lol!

Agreed. It’d be one thing if you had ring side seats to Morales vs Barrera or Corrales Castillo, but watching a fight in the comfort of your own home on a hi def tv is hard to beat.

I live in the south so not many fighters come around here except Jones Jr. Saw him fight Glen Johnson, Lacey, and his fight last Saturday live. Also saw a shot Rahman fight Galen Brown. Danny Green was on the undercard of the Jones vs Lacey fight
