I may be a bit of a hypocrit as I hate disrespectfull behaviour being shown towards boxers but the last 2 fights I have attended have been Froch vs Bute and Burns vs Mitchell and on both occcasions I have particpated in booing of the visiting fighter and joined in with "Kevin Mitchell yer a w4nker" before the Burns fight. Both times I joined in as I wanted to create as hostile and unwelcoming environment as possible in order to boost the chances of Carl and Ricky. Is such chanting out of order? I personally would never resort to "EASY" chants or urling abuse afterwards.
I honestly cannot say i have TBH Booing is not abuse, like you say your making sure the guy knows he's unwelcome, but physically shouting out names is absolutely pointless and tasteless IMHO I respect any man climbing through the ropes, it sounds like a cliche but i do, i dont think abuse to boxers who are in effect putting there safety at risk for the sake of the show is right to be honest
Theres a difference between shouting abuse when someone is knocked out on the canvas and joining in chats before the fight to create a hostile atmosphere. Abusive chanting after fights is also uncalled no matter the ending.
Of course I have, I dont turn up to fights with a top hat and a monocle and applause spliffing shows of the sweet science - If I wanted too do that I would have watched it on the television at home. I get pissed and support the fighter I choose to pay money for. You have surely never been to a fight abroad if you haven't hurled abuse at a boxer before.
I would have hurled abuse at a journeyman called Paul Royston once, but fell asleep just as I was about to start laying into him for fighting like a ******. He'd have made Audley seem like Arturo Gatti.
Booing and cheering is fine by me, everyone has their favourites. Abusive chants after a fella has been knocked out is out of order imo and I wont join in - imagine if they dont get up - feel pretty bad then wouldn't you.
Have hurled abuse at fighters when they are on tv when i lose money. The only time i booed live was calzaghe v starie. There was no chance of either lad getting hurt as they were doing **** all.
If I'm going to a big fight, I like to get pissed, soak up the atmosphere etc. Its all banter and adds to the occasion. Booing national anthems, booing knocked out fighters and fighting in the stands is not on though. Always seems to be some know-all twat behind me at fights as well.
