I was abusing Froch during his fight against Glen Johnson but that was on my TV so not sure if that counts.
I saw joe at morrisons,******* was standing 5 feet away from me, i said "yo joe" he looked pissed at being recognised to hurried the kids along,i thought **** this i want a autograph so started following him shouting "yo joe, come back joe" got outside and started following him across the car park but they jumped in a car and sped away :-(
Makes you look like an ignorant fool imo. Cheering on your own fighter with passion is enough to create a hostile atmosphere for the visiting fighter. No need to be acting the maggot.
Shouting abuse at Chisora during his ring walk, as was everyone. But after the fight and his interview everyone applauded and cheered him. How it should be really.
I don't think thats out of order at all, or what people were getting worked up about last night to be honest. I see it a bit like how fighters conduct themselves before the action, trash talk, belittling there record etc..... is all to be expected and part of the game. So is booing a fighter when they enter the ring or giving them grief at the weigh in. When the fights done though that should be it, the vast majority of fighters no matter how heated the build up may have been will, unless they feel they've been robbed, congratulate their opponent, raise their arm and say some nice things about them in the post fight interviews. Any fighter who doesn't is pretty classless in my opinion. Same with fans.
I be honest i don't like booing fighters, but TBH fighters thrive on a atmosphere and if i was to box i'd rather be booed then have no crowd noise at all but i think calling people wankers and throwing beer at them and that stuff is just being dicks. Cheer your man on, roar when he lands. That creates a great atmosphere and doesn't need to be vile and crude. I respect anyone who gets in a ring so i don't boo personally..
It was Lewis/Ruddock. As most of my friends were only casual fans, we went to the West End for the evening, as, if I remember rightly the fight was on at about Midnight. So we were pretty drunk by the time we got to Earls Court. Anyway we were leaving, and were taking a 'short cut' back to the station, when we saw Duva packing up, with his people. I only knew Taylor had lost (I did not know how badly, it was a big upset at the time), but of course I knew of Duva's legendary temper, so I dared a couple of my mates to start abusing him. Of course, Lou was probably not in the best of moods anyway, without a group of youths ripping the ****. He just snapped, and started to chase us. I think his people stopped him, I just heard "Get out of here, you bums", and saw a couple of big black blokes steaming towards us, so I sprinted up the road and we mingled back in with everyone leaving.
I think that booing is ok if the fighter is really disliked but I disagree with booing just because he's not your fighter, in an ideal world even the other fighter would get clapped but in the heat of the moment I can see why people boo. What really gets me is when people shout individual insults at a fighter and not as part of a chant, the real spiteful stuff.
