The guy is doing well for himself, had two huge main events in Vegas and has some good wins on his resume. Regardless if he's a fat azz now or later, He's a successful geezer. The promotional moevm, ent is doing quite well, lets see how it jumps off this year.
I ain't lost respect for him, hes just annoying at this present time in his career, he should quit !! Hes just going on like a scrounger these days, its like hes tryna get as much money as possible, or hes tryna make people believe in him again - like an old bird thinking they still young n sexy when they ain't !! He ain't exciting to watch anymore, and he don't bring nothing special to boxing !! He should retire and forget about boxing, work on his promotional team, then people will realize he was a top boxer in his day !! And will give him all the respect in the world... Hes just going on like a beggar these days..... no1 wants to see the fat man fight no more, unless you a pisshead Manc City fan He can show strength and bravery in a different way by giving up boxing !!
Thats a fair point fella. However, SKY & his masses of fans helped fuel the fire of his ego, so it aint really fair to say he shouldnt have an ego anymore cos he lost. After all, Hatton didnt create his ego by himself, it was a team effort. it only seems like yesterday when I read Ricky Hatton raging cos he was compared to Rocky Marciano... he thought he was above fighters like that when he was undefeated. & at the time? The brit media & his fanboys felt the same way. & now the very same people who built him up? Now take great pleasure in knocking him down. No wonder hes bitter & wants to come back to prove people wrong, cos most of his gloryhunting fans judging by ESB standards dropped him like a hot potato the minute he lost to Pac.
He did well and only lost to the very best,he beat some very good fighters.Latley though he has made a lot of daft excuses for his loses and has really let himself go.He should not be walking about fat as a pig talking about fighting again.Id only start to take him seriously if he looked in decent shape. He is letting himself down at the momment.
I don't think anybody's dropped him Dunky.I think the same people who were dissing him then are still dissing him now.I was always a fan of the lad, still am in my opinion he was a very good fighter, but i just think he's starting to make himself look ridiculous. We all probably know where this is going to end,and it won't be a pretty sight.
I don't respect the ballooning. At 23 you get away with it perhaps. In your late 20's, making millions, fighting the best and trying to be the best, he should've known better. Still, he's a fighter, not a nutritionist. I think he rested on his laurels and could have done more to maximise his talent so in that way, I have lost respect for him later in his career. It was a fun journey though and I think he's a sound fella. People have unrealistic expectations of what a working class lad is.
He was my favourite boxer when he was active. Now he's active again (presuming he does actually come back) he's once again my favourite boxer. Man gave me legendary nights and amazing weekends in Vegas. Without it being Hatton I would not have had anyone to go with. All in all, I've always rated him probably more than most. I still do. My opinion hasnt changed. The only thing that has changed is I think his win over Urango has gained more credence.
I have indeed lost a lot of respect for Hatton recently. Nothing to do with his weight, that is his business and if it hinders him in the ring (which I don't believe it does) then tough tittty to him, nobody else. I have lost respect for him solely for his decision to carry on boxing. Ultimately I can only seeing him doing more harm to his resume overall no matter who he fights. If he fights Marquez there is a strong change that he is going to lose again, possibly badly...again. He should be concentrating on looking after his family and his promotional business now. Imagine the damage it would do if he were to suffer serious injuries in his 'last hurrah'!? The sport (in England particularly) would be hit very hard imo. Come on Ricky, it was good while it lasted, don't spoil it.
