Have your opinions on haye/klit changed?

The experience he's gained, if you can call it that, at HW can't do him any harm. Haye is probably at his peak, there or there abouts, Vitali is on the slide and Wlad is still fighting like he did when the fight was first mooted.

Haye's got more a chance if anything, but not by a lot.

Also, Klit fans have a tailor-made excuse if Haye manages to KO either Klit, "If Haye hadn't ducked all those years he would have been knocked out, he waited for the Klit's to deteriorate before stepping in the ring."

 

have always though Haye has a very good chance to beat Wladamir and watching Vitali's recent fights I give him much better shot than I did two years ago.

I do not think Wladamir is paticuarly good fighter, and while Haye has his flaws he has enough ability to beat him. He is simply far far superirior in the attributes needed to beat them compared to anyone they have faced since Lennox Lewis.

He's got no chance against Wlad, absolutely none.

He'd beat Vitali now though, subject to his legs not giving out on him.

 

Haye has a better chance against Vitali as time goes by. Wlad still seems to be getting better, though.

I think Haye beats Vitali provided he can stay away late.

Wlad, Haye may win 1 in 5 if Wlad gets sloppy.

Well, looking at Wlad's strengths..... he's got pretty much the full array of punches in his armoury, a ramrod jab that is very accurate, an excellent right hand and also a murderous left hook when he decides to use it. The only punch missing really is the uppercut, which isn't really a factor in this particular fight.

His footwork and balance are much improved since moving to Steward, and he is very good at dictating the pace and range at which the fight is contested.

His weaknesses..... well, erm..... he's been stopped three times in his career due to having a slightly shaky beard and not really knowing what to do when under fire. But that was six years ago, and he's lost what, one round since, maybe two?

Haye - strengths..... power obviously, he's capable of hurting pretty much any opponent that he faces. His hands are fast and he's pretty nimble on his feet. He's also capable of following a gameplan and doesn't appear to be easily ruffled.

Weaknesses - stamina - from the mid rounds onward against Valuev he was exhausted, despite simply circling the ring and barely getting into double figures in terms of punches per round. His footwork is often sloppy and he falls into his punches often. In terms of durability we don't really know, but he was put on his arse by both Mormeck and Barrett... neither of whom are in the same class as Wlad in the power department.

Looking at Haye's recent fights - Ruiz was reasonably successful at cutting off the ring, despite having the footspeed of a three legged cow (as was Mormeck FWIW) and also landed lots of jabs throughout the middle rounds once he'd warmed up. That alone should certainly make you think twice about predicting a Haye win. Additionally Haye gets overexcited once he's got an opponent hurt and goes into baseball slugger mode - something that could cost him in this one.

Basically, Wlad has all the attributes required to make Haye look **** and eventually get him out of there. He's taller, has longer reach, more power, better footwork and at worst, an equal chin. He's just a better fighter.

 

While I agree with most of what you say...I still think Hayes stentghs next to Wladamirs weakneses give him a very good shot at victory.

While Wladamir has barley lost a round since the Sam Peter fight he has also not faced anybosy that was paticularly good and been able to avoid anyone you could class as a fast, hard puncher like Haye. I feel he is able to dominate his opponents due to there lack of quality rather than his actual boxing skill.

 

Firstly, as people:-

I always thought of Haye as the calm guy who seemed to want the fight, and since I saw more of his fights I always prefered him. But after watching more interviews and fights from the brothers, they have much better ethics and are pretty much cooler guys. Vitali is usually straight to business, he doesent talk above himself and keeps it pretty conceited. Wlad is a funny guy and was really cool to call himself the weaker brother. Haye tries so hard to be funny and think up contraversial slogans, but these guys do it more naturally.

As boxers:-

No. I still think they Klitschko bros have Haye beat stylisticly to a UD but Haye has a large chance of cutting past the distance and doing alot of damage to them. It could go either way. Boxing fans should want Haye to win as it boosts the sport forward but the safest bet if on both brothers...just.

 

Well, it's probably that I rate Wladimir higher than you do.

I'm not convinced Haye would be unbeaten against Wlad's opposition since the first Peter fight.

Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh, but Haye really is all smoke and mirrors at HW. Barrett was old and was smacked around by Solis not long after, Valuev lost to Holyfield a year before and Ruiz hadn't beaten anyone good since Golota in 2004.... Fraudley.... :rofl

Can Haye knock Wlad out?

Definitely, but I'm much more comfortable picking the proven campaigner in his prime vs a less proven, shaky chinned banger like Haye.... and would do so every time.

I can't see Haye going the distance and losing to either..... or anyone else for that matter. He's got the same thing Hatton had, i.e. would rather go down swinging than coasting.

I'm not sure a Haye win is good for the sport either, in fact I don't think Haye and his type are good for boxing. Loudmouth pricks with zero class outside the ring..... not quite in the Alexis Arguello category :-(

I think Haye probably won't get the chance to land those swings though. I think Haye has enough heart invested in this fight to stay standing but I think he'll be walking into the jab/straight all night, only landing one or two hard shots.

I don't consider Hate a "Loudmouth *****". He is cool and confident in himself. He does talk alot of **** compaired to alot of others, but if you look at the Ali's and Mayweathers, Haye looks like he has never said a word in his life. Those English fighters seem so much more like pricks than they actually are. Khan used to be awful in interviews as he, despite not being an arrogant *****, came accross as one. He changed up now whislt Haye is still recieved badly. In Ringside Haye usually seems pretty calm and cool in his efforts. Every sport needs a hated guy those. His T Shirts rip off another loud mouth's gimmick, Tito Ortiz, and he made some of MMA's greatest rivalries.
