You'll see him commentate the Kessler/Calzaghe fight as well as the Mosley/Cotto fight.

    All hail Max Kellerman!

I much prefer Lampley to Kellerman. Lampley cops a lot of flack, but he is the most articulate, knowledgable and exciting lead commentator by a long shot IMO. Obviously the specialists have more technical knowledge, but in terms of actually presenting the fight I think he does a great job. The HBO team is FAR better then Showtime.

I heard that the guy who fired Merchant and hired Kellerman got fired. Could have something to do with it...

Kellerman has a connection within the boxing community, I heard a few people say he was better than Merchant, but no one know actually likes the Bart Simpson look a like.

The classic HBO team is the lead moderator (Lampley), the analyst (Merchant and Kellerman) and an expert (either a fighter or trainer) Foreman, Jones, Steward...

So comparing Kellerman to Lampley is like comparinf apples and oranges...

When I hear Max's hyperactive voice come on....then off goes the sound......don't need anyone to tell me what left jabs, right crosses,
    hooks, etc, are.

The fight then becomes so much better.

    :)

I actually do not mind Max I think he gets **** on a little too much. He is still better than the showtime guys.

They need to clone Kellerman and replace Lampley with the clone.

Then replace Steward with George Foreman. Now that's quality television.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen him in a while.

Since it seems like this is turning into a Kellerman/Merchant comparison thread here's what I think:

I think they're both alright, I mean there's things I dislike and like about both of them. Kellerman's voice gets on my nerves sometimes and Larry can come up with some the most ridiculous and confusing analogies on earth, but I think they both have their place in the world of boxing commentary.
