you can't avoid every punch all the time, wlads been on the floor 11 times now.having a good chin was never a bad thing
I think Jazzo your forgetting that Wlad is in HW division. He doesnt have a "weak" chin. Also Wlad has never been KO, hes be KD. Getting hit by at 240llb man and 140lb man are two very different things.
It so isnt like that. A chin isnt a weapon. It could be compared to going to war without a helmet, but then being skillful enough to not allow your opponent a clear shot of your head
Hearns wasn't exactly out getting knocked out by nobodies. I'd say he has an average or slightly below average chin. Khan has a poor chin though.
atsch and if the sky was black it would be really dark you can say that about any fighter-if tyson had no power he wouldnt be knocking people out,if pacquiao had no speed he'd be knocked out countless times but at the end of the day they do have these things and they shouldn't be used as a criticism
Hearns and Khan are also tall and rangy. Although Khan hasn't really proven he can deal with punchers so he doesn't really count yet. But Hearns didn't really have a glass jaw anyway. Terry Norris did have a glass jaw, but he was a very mobile, fast fighter and was able to overcome this to a point. He had a successful career. But still having an iron chin means you are always in the fight. It's one of the better things to have.
No ****. And people question why it's necessary to have The Chincheckers at ESB!!! :nut atsch I guarantee you that the explanation most of these fanboys would give for their glass-jawed faves getting starched would be the old unprovable BS - "that punch woulda KOd ANYBODY" :rofl:rofl:rofl
Your two examples are heavyweights who usually held significant size advantages going into their fights. They were able to use their size advantage and reach as a major part of their strategy to protect their chins and win rounds by only using their jab. This doesn't apply in lower weight classes because there are no monsters. Paul Williams would be the exception at WW but he doesn't use his size effectively and thus leaves himself vulnerable. IMO Chin is as important as power, stamina, speed, etc in all weight classes below HW.
