I'm serious. Why pull off a Paul Williams to show your heart when your skills are so great that you can avoid the hassle of overcoming trouble?

Not everyone is so skilled and use heart. What's wrong with that then? This reminds me of Gatti.

There's nothing wrong with fighting with your heart all the time. Fans love that. If you had the skills to fight in a way that lets you avoid the most trouble would you not do it? It's rare to find someone who likes to take punishment by getting hit.

You don't think Floyd has heart? A superb fighter the likes of FLoyd and Pacquiao wouldn't go that far without heart. That what drives them to take good care of their body, train hard, and win.

Having heart is not a liability. Lacking the other attributes(e.g. skills, etc) is.

your post is terrible and i stopped reading after the first paragraph. These guys don't go out there to try and show the world they have heart, they want to show they're the best by winning the fight.Sometimes heart and will is all a fighter can make it on.

Do you honestly think that every fighter has just had god given talent?
what about the guys without it? the ones who will never quit, who just work and work because they have something to prove to themselves.

boxing is a sport where guys who are not naturally talented but are determined and have HEART can succeed! with that being said the best fighters have heart,

    pacquiao
    mayweather
    martinez
    ward

Noone likes to get hit in the face but some are willing to go "trough the trouble" in order to get the win!

And NO these fighters are not out there trying to show people "how cool" they are, how old are you:lol:

Also, don't confuse courage with survival, sometimes when a fighter gets hit(like PBF did against Mosley) the will to survive takes over.

Who in their right mind if they had the skills to make it an easy fight take a punishing brawl instead? It's not fighter A's fault that fighter B isn't in the same league with him in terms of skills to give him trouble.

Being skilled enough to take away everyone's weapons doesn't mean he's lacking in heart. It means he's smart first. Even Brother Nazim knows Void isn't no quitter.

Would you say Mosley isn't courageous? Mosley was just out to survive on May 1st. He took all the tough fights for little pay in his younger days.

The fighters Leon is talking about do get the win. What are you talking about? They do go through the trouble of getting the win. Just not in the way you like to see it. They go through the trouble in the gym, and in training from a young age, so they can school fighters in the pros, and not take punishment. You enjoy watching slugfests and guys taking unnecessary beatings. How old are YOU?

Heart is something you need to over come adversity with a disciplined mentality and a relentless show of effort. If you're not going to do that, then you don't belong in the sport, or at least not in respectable ranks of competition. Skills are first and foremost, but Heart is necessary for greatness.

Now wreckless aggression, that's another thing. Marquez-Diaz was a skilled counterpuncher versus an overly-taxing offensive fighter. Marquez was the more skilled, and came out on top, but neither without their share of punishment. They weren't taking hits just to "show they could take it", but because it was a competitive engagement. Other fighters like to take unecessary risks, and I agree with you that it's not necessary for entertainment or for proof of worth, but heart is at the core of a fighter.

The correct thing to do is stick yo your gameplan and not get involved but then boxing would boring.

Thriller in Manilla, Two great fighters past their best fighting on heart and determination and a genuine dislike of eachother and it was one of the best heavyweight fights of all time.

A fighter should stick to his gameplan but as a spectator I want a real battle

You're basically just saying discipline is more important, not that heart is overrated. And I don't find many would disagree with that. In fact, many fighters with top notch heart have terrific discipline, especially within their training.
