    Emre Cukur vs Roman Shkarupa
    R1: 9-10
    R2: 10-9
    R3: 10-9

Best round from Cukur so far, he worked the jab in a very effective way and started to throw fast and big hands from time to time as a counterattack.

Agreed. Although Axel Schulz was fairly solid and had a good following. Tom Schwarz is ethnic German and is developing a following but he isn't very good..... Michael Wallisch is a decent HW but his hearts not in the sport, which is a shame because he's more talented than most of his countryman even those who have achieved more like Charr and Hammer.

It just blows my mind; I can't have been the only one to notice it. And like I said, I don't want to ruffle any feathers & offend anyone (I think @f1ght3rz might be German?) but it is the elephant in the room, is just seems statistically impossible that so few top German fighters would be, well, actually "German", and I can't think of a single other country where so much of their top talent is 'borrowed', so to speak. There has to be some actual reason for it - like maybe German children are steered away from boxing gyms by their parents on purpose? - I just have no idea what it could be. Obviously I'm not implying that Teutons/Deutsche are inherently bad at fighting or anything ridiculous like that. Just...the fact of the demographics can't be ignored, and is mind-boggling..

Cukur landed more clean but worked less than Shkarupa who looked better this round than in the previous one. He is working very well.

Yeah. But for a country with a population of 83 million (of which 81% are ethnically German) it beggars belief that the list of notable boxers who aren't 1 or 2 generations removed from being from somewhere else is so short.

The population of the Philippines is only slightly larger and their national roster in prizefighting, spread across many weight classes, is STACKED...and they don't have like a tenth of the organized & funded amateur scene that Germany does!!!!!

Close round. Cukur started well, Shkarupa finished well. Cukur losing his mouthguard two times this round was one of the most exciting moments here.

I think actual Germans in Germany gear more towards education or more athletic kind of sports. Boxing is a lower class sport, typically reserved for the poor (with some exceptions).

Germany has a lot of Eastern Euro/Turkic migrants and they typically tend to be part of the working class.

Also, I just don't think they're a fighting nation to begin with, Eastern Europeans - are, combat sports, not just boxing are definitely part of the culture whether it be MMA, Kickboxing, Wrestling, always have been. So that kind of explains it I guess.

Cukur losing his mouthguard for the third time, he gets a one point deduction for that. Shkarupa won the round with good activity in the second half.

I get those points, but there's so much greater & evener distribution - through every facet of "world class" on down to 4-rounder tomato can - in other European countries, and not just former Soviet ones like the obvious examples of Russia & Ukraine. Look at Italy or France, they at least have some dominant Euro champs in almost every generation in several divisions. And obviously the UK for a tiny island are bosses in this game, and they have the same proportion of "whites" and educated/high-income people as Germany does..

Look at Americans IB, almost all your boxers (that are good) have been black - people who have constantly faced struggle and just lived in subjugation. Even the ones that are white tend to be first generation Americans born into a migrant family.

Living in first world comfortable western society tend to soften up the population culturally over generations.

Cukur isn't doing enough here to win those rounds although he has the home factor. Shkarupa is a tough nut, still with a high work rate.

Another good round from Shkarupa. Cukur went down but was pushed down not knocked down.
