One could argue that footwork could have improved by 1%, handspeed by 1%, defense by 1% etc and a fighter with an increase in all of those areas would be a 1% improved fighter. Your logic is also flawed as in this instance, boxing would not be an exception.

Haye dies a violent death in a deathly manner.

Stop the nonsense.. He is sure a top 3 ATG and possibly greatest ever, but no, he does not KO Haye in 1.. Who did he KO in 1? He was not a 1st round knockout artist. Come on, get a hold of yourself man.

No wayne, my point is that the degree of improvement in the dimensions that make up the overall activity of boxing are minor in comparison to the degree of variation in overall boxing smarts that Ali possessed.

Besides, Ali was MUCH faster of hand and foot than any boxer at hevywt today.

It's a bit like the two-pack-a-day man who lives to be 97.

Smoking, IN GENERAL, shortens your life span. But some individuals, for whatever reason, smoke and live long.

Boxers IN GENERAL have gotten better over the decades, but that doesn't mean that the best current heavywts would beat an ATG from 40 years ago.

    It's really not that complicated.

Watch Ali KO Brian London, he throws about 12 punches in about 2 1/2 seconds. To my eye he looks significantly faster than Haye. Too much emphasis is placed on modern diet and training when it comes to boxing, especially when Ali is the one we are talking about. Remember, Ali won his first championship in 1964. In 1994, a guy who Ali Ko'd, George Foreman, won a heavyweight championship of the world. So I am confident in saying that a prime Ali would have won a championship in 1994. Finally, whenever I predict fantasy fights, I consider the year of the fight taking place. If Ali/Haye fight now, then Ali has modern technolgy taken into account. If they fought in 64' Haye is eating pounds of steak and doing roadwork in combat boots.

Watch Ali KD Cleavland Williams with a right hand while backbeddling, it takes serious skills & timing and some good power to boot.

Watch his movement in the 1st Liston fight, or just about any early championship fights for that matter. That would give anyone nightmares.

Haye's an exciting heavyweight prospect, but he's not even fought @ that weight against anyone yet. Will his speed carry? Will he have better stamina? Will he be able to take a punch?

Unless Haye exceeds my expectations greatly @ heavyweight, I still go with Ali by mid/late round TKO.

I like Haye I really do. I think he's a breathe of fresh air to the HW division but he's so throughly outclassed here that it's not even funny. Sure a 1st round KO might be a bit of a reach but not by much so I'll change my prediction to Ali buy 2nd round KO.:yep
