Peter was a champion who easily koed Maskev. Vitali hadn't fought in four years. Of course he was favored.

Say what you want to say about him, but he's a world class fighter. He's beaten three top 20 ranked fighters. So, there's no comparison between him and Audley Harrison or a washed up Shannon Briggs. Comprende?

I'm sorry!! In all Seriousness!!! R we talking about the same guy!!!

Is this what boxing has come to!!

A grossly overweight slob who hardly throws 2 punches and quits when he still has a chance to win!! He's already been blown away by both brothers!! And people here are calling him world class when everyone fully well knows he has NO CHANCE of winning.....:patsch

    sad times 4 thiis sport

your post sums up the heavyweight division right now.
Hes far better than audley and briggs. 100% correct. But still.... hes only beaten THREE top 20 ranked fighters :patsch

What is the argument here....do you even have one? Has Peter beaten three top 20 fighters or hasn't he? Has he been or a world champion or hasn't he? Is he ranked as the number one contender by the IBF or isn't he? Really, get a grip. So he lost to three elite fighters...That doesn't mean he's not a top contender.:lol::lol:

Mate, that really was my only point. It's a legitimate fight. The best Wlad could have possibly made....which makes it a damn sight better than what Vitali and Haye are offering us.

    deffo! Vitali/Haye fights are disgraceful.
Its sad though that wlad cant get a better contender than peter. who although is far better than briggs or audley, is still not what you would call a tough challenger by HISTORICAL standards.

Personally id like to see Povetkin that chicken **** fight wlad. And an adamek fight cant be too far away either

That's fine....I don't agree. Obviously, it's not the best fight we could have gotten. The best fight we could have gotten was Wlad vs. Haye, but he didn't want to fight. The second best fight we could have gotten was Wlad vs. Povetkin, but he didn't want to fight, again. This is what we're left with. I respect any many who steps in the ring and Peter didn't fuss or try to negotiate better terms, he accepted the fight.

So would I. Adamek is now the number one contender in the WBO, so I think we'll see him squaring off against Wlad in his next fight.
