Haye and Klitschko already eyeing rematch

    Sun, 03 Jul 12:31:00 2011

Wladimir Klitschko has offered David Haye a rematch after beating the Englishman in Hamburg on Saturday night.

The giant Ukrainian won a unanimous points victory to add Haye's WBA world heavyweight title to the WBO, IBF and IBO belts that he already held.

But Klitschko was annoyed at failing to knock out the Londoner, and appeared further irritated when Haye claimed that the only reason he had not been competitive was that he broke a toe in training three weeks ago.

"I'm still not okay with his behaviour before the fight," Klitschko said as he offered Haye a rematch in the post-bout press conference.

"It's definitely disgraceful to the boxing fans and to the sport of boxing, the way the man behaved himself. Right now after the fight, I think the fight talks for itself.

"He's been criticising all of the opponents and also he's been criticising me for being whatever, cautious, but he was more cautious than any other fighters. He was very fast and I didn't get the real and true challenge that I had the opportunity to knock him out.

"He connected with a couple of punches but I wasn't hurt at any stage of the fight. I continued to fight the way I fought all 12 rounds. He criticised all my opponents but he ended up in the same situation."

Haye had insisted before the fight that he would retire upon turning 31 in October, but after the defeat quickly opened the door to extending his career - and admitted that he is desperate to have another go at his victor once back to full fitness.

"I said I would retire in October, but I would be disappointed to go out on a loss," he said.

"Wladimir boxed the perfect fight. He used his size and reach. I wasn't able to land my shots partly because he has good defence.

"I'd love to fight him when I'm 100 per cent fit. I proved I am a genuine heavyweight champion. I took a few shots and I proved a lot of people wrong"

Wladimir probably sees a Haye rematch as easy money.

Personally I dont think an immediate rematch is wise, Haye doesnt deserve it.

His promoter was on the BBC not long ago saying a Wlad rematch is pretty much a no go though a Vitali fight is a possibility.

Well, the division is practically clean right now. The Klitschkos absolutely dominate.

For me, Wlad-Haye II, Wlad-Boytsov, Wlad-Arrreola, etc, are all the same.

Gave Wlad a career high pay day. At pay day that would probably be improved upon in a rematch, unfortunately

Yep. And now he knows what Haye can dish out, and next time he would be more aggressive and look for the KO.

    Hey, I'll watch it.

Forget about it! Haye already stole somebody else's opportunity... Who was the guy who beat but got robbed by Valuev in his WBA HW Title attempt? That's right, the 4 time former World HW Champion is no less than the Shannon Briggs of this world and the next. Give Evander a shot and let him make some hard earned doe for himself and his family.

No chance would they make more in a rematch. They'd be lucky to get half that in a rematch.

except for vitali, there's no really other fight out there for wlad...

moneywise, rematch will be good for them but same outcome though...

Agreed with this. Who's he gonna fight if not Haye again?

Arreola? For a fraction of the money he could get?

Might as well dominate Haye again when his widdle toe gets better.

Whats with all this "Haye should not get any he does not deserve it".

Klitschko and Haye do not like eachother and there is still unfinished business. Is there any better reason to fight?
