Haye and Povetkin did the right thing

Maybe Ali should have pulled out against Liston, too.. when he was 22 years old with 20 pro fights? Would that have been the right thing too? Was Ali too inexperienced? My God I am tired of hearing these bull**** excuses. If you get the chance to fight for the HW crown you stop scheming, you stop thinking what happens if you lose, you go get in the ring and try to knock the champ out. That's how this game works.

If young contenders never challenge the champs how will we have new champs? Both Povetkin and Haye are a disgrace for boxing, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of every boxing fan with a tad of respect for the sport and its history.

These guys get a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship served on a silver plate to them - and they refuse! Back in the 50s, 60s and 70s people used to kill for such a unique opportunity. Now these lazy clowns get comfortable with their lifes and they do not want to take risks going forward. These jackasses have no place in professional boxing and should retire on the spot. Go look for another career.

I agree even one loss can be devastating - if someone fights tomato cans once a year, like Povetkin does lately.

But in reality, Peter is getting his 2nd shot at Wlad, after losing both to him and his brother (and to Chambers as well).

As to Haye and Povetkin - if you are not ready for someone, why challenging him (multiple times), entering tournaments, negotiating, than faking injuries, and so on? Adamek was mentioned once or twice as possible Klits opponent, and he just said he is not going to fight them this year as he does not feel ready.

BTW, the thing about being "not ready" is BS anyway. Povetkin is pro 5 years already, and it was after more than decent amateur career. If he is not ready now, it just means he'll never be.

 

Vitali or Vlad will knock out Povetkin.

 

well as we are into our 2nd year waiting , after all his bull****, he will be considered a coward and ducker...because thats excatly what he is doing...he simply refuses to fight them.
keep spouting off how good of a business man he is....one mans good business move, another mans coward. so in 2 years from now, when feel like saying i told you so....no ones gonna give a ****, because its too little too late....it wont be the same or have the same impact.....

 

Here's Povetkin in 2008, calling out Wlad "KLITSCHKO I WANT YOU". Now a full 2 years later people feel sympathy with Povetkin and say he's not ready? You have got to be kidding me, if you are not ready then shut the fu** up and don't call people out:

I have to disagree here. With that logic, nobody should face Wlad at this point, because honestly, every other HW is a huge underdog and not 'ready' for one reason or the other (except for his brother Vitali maybe). Haye and Povetkin should look upon a possible title-shot against Wlad as a chance, and not as a risk - when you're challenging a champ for his titles, there's always the risk of getting 'slaughtered'. I don't think Haye or Povetkin would get slaughtered against Wlad (the last man Wlad has 'slaughtered' was Ray Austin), though they probably get stopped. That risk is part of the game.

Haye and Povetkin are certainly the two most deserving challengers at this point. Much more deserving than Samuel Peter and Toney. As big a Toney fan as I am, he's too old now to face Wlad. Toney would have had a shot at beating Wlad 5 years ago, but it's too late now. Even if Toney destroyed Couture at MMA (which I think is unlikely), it wouldn't mean that he's got a chance to beat Wlad, since it's a different sport. Samuel Peter has no more than a punchers chance - he couldn't KO Wlad 5 years ago (though barely), he won't KO him now that Wlad has become better while he - Peter - has declined.

I also think that Haye and Povetkin are in their primes now, don't forget they have huge amateur pedigrees. I don't think they're green, certainly not Haye. They're 30 and 29 years old, slightly younger than Wlad.

The best should fight the best. That's how it has always been in the golden eras of boxing. And that's exactly what the HW division needs right now (and the other divisons too for that matter).

i agree, it is the one point the haters have which is valid. haye spent so long calling out k2 and when they answered the call he turned them down.

now i dont believe it is out of cowardice, but whatever the reason is, it is a god enough reason not to go calling out nthe champ of the world if you aint gonna fight them.

 

Perhaps Haye is no longer as confident as he was entering HW? Why to postpone a fight with Klits if you r so sure of ur skills? A business point of view you say... to milk a belt, earn $$ against bums and then actual Killings spree against Klits. But being so confident of his skills which overwhelm Klits in each aspect just why not to take them now and milk belts later? What is the difference for Haye in either fighting now or later against Klits if he knows he is much better than them? Is he, right? He believes he can win, right? ... the only logical excuse in this case is that Haye is simply afarid of fighting Klits now, cuz there is no big business difference in putting the fight off for a 'better time' - just try not to agree...
