    ESPN

Roach told ESPN.com that he was approached by heavyweight titlist David Haye and his manager/trainer Adam Booth to train him for his mandatory defense against John Ruiz, which is supposed to take place in London in March or April. When Roach was in England working with junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan for his first-round knockout of Dmitriy Salita last week, Roach said he spoke with Haye and Booth. "Adam asked me if I would help them out and I also spoke to David," Roach said. "I think David is what the heavyweight division needs and I like what I see. I would love to work with him, so we will see what we can do." The timing may be a problem, however. Roach is committed to training Pacquiao for the Mayweather fight and plans to do the first month of their camp in the Philippines before finishing up in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

this might be the only chance haye has at coming close to beating a klitschko. at the very least it would make the pre-fight hype a hell of a lot better.

This would be a very good move.

A Haye and Roach duo could very well be a devestating one. Roach knows what to do with fighters who have a combination of speed and power (Pac, and Khan to an extent), and I personally would love to see such an affiliation.

However, hasn't Roach already got enough on his plate? I swear he's training a fair few others too.

I'm glad Booth and Haye both see the need for a new trainer or at least some help for David. Roach seems to be the guy that very physically gifted fighters are coming to to help harness their skills, worked for Pacquaio and it seems to be working for Khan. I wish the best for Haye, he's dedicated, exciting and he's got charisma. I'm sick of these fat asses fighting on TV, it's embarrasing for the sport.

Roach has no love for the Klits.

Even though Haye has only a 10-20% of pulling off a victory against either brother, that's a gamble I think Roach would take. It's as good a chance as any other Heavy has.

Unless Roach gives Haye the smart advice (which Haye already seems to be taking) which is to avoid the Klits and fight the WBA circlejerk of Valuev, Ruiz, Chag, Meehan, Holyfield until there are signs that the Klits are in decline.
The longer Haye waits the better his chances become. Roach knows that. Haye knows that too.

Good move, Haye. Maybe The Joke Coach Roach can get this tough man to throw a straight punch.

True that. It seems like more than a few boxers are flocking to Freddie now.
