Aye, heavy hands is not as effective if there is not speed or technique. Huge punchers don't go 12 with Sprott and a shot Julius Francis.
Virchis has murderous power, the hardest hitter in the division today, but yes, he has no technique, no punching skills and is slow. However he also has a granite chin and a big body, which enables him to stay there for the full 12 rounds, waiting for the other fighter to relax, tire or make a mistake that will allow him to land a big bomb. Virchis is a dangerous opponent, Haye should not touch that, just let Gomes, Vitali or Peter deal with him.
Chagev is no threat to Wlad at all. He is easy to hit, doesn't hit all that hard himself and is quite lethargic. The fact that people are talking about him shows how dire the division is.
Wlad is the only one I would pick to beat haye and that is only because of his natural advanatages. haye is quick enough and powerful enough to kncok klitschko the **** out, the problem is he is a jab merchant and with his height and reach will probably win it for him.
Haye made a big statement last night, but it's a myth that there is a shortage of good heavyweight fighters just now. There is no Mike Tyson circa 86-88, with that aura, but there are big hitters. Haye will have to negotiate people like Virchis, Povetkin and Valuev to get at Wlad, Peter or Vitaly. Chagaev is the weakest champion but I suspect his belt will have gone to someone else by the time Haye is making his title challenge.
I have seen him fight and he is highly unimpressive. And yes against Skelton he was lethargic. Which of his fights has most impressed you?
i give haye a chance against EVERY hwt. that doesn't guarantee he will win. he has a good chance. i think Haye of Yesterday, would have beaten Oleg and Peter yesterday.
I've read alot of rubbish on here scrolling down through the posts. A) Anyone dismissing Haye's chances vs Wlad, simply have not watched either of them box. Haye has pound4pound power. Not only that, he also has brilliant relexes and speed to go with it. Wlad was Koed by Brewster and Sanders, plus was in all sorts of trouble vs Peter. I cannot believe that anyone thinks the above are better boxers than Haye. Whether he would beat Wlad is open to debate. Wlad has alot going for him (height, jab, straight right and immense power) but it would certainly be a bout that either could win. B) Haye's chin has question marks surrounding it but....it is difficult to say whether it is that bad. He blew himself out vs Thompson and I honestly believe the knockdown vs Mormeck was more due to him being weight drained than anything else. This would not be a problem at heavyweight. I think he has only been down twice and stopped on his feet once (vs Thompson), not terrible in 22 fight career which includes 4 European title fights and two huge world title clashes. C) Haye would not be a small heavyweight. He is 6 foot 3 and has a big athletic phsique. He weighed 217 vs Bonin in his only heavyweight outing. Bear in mind he had to keep his weight under control because he was due to step down to cruiserweigt to fight Mormeck afterwards. I think naturally he would weigh around 220-225. Which is heavy enough considering he carries no fat (unlike some other heavyweight contenders) and needs to keep his speed advantages. Most importantly, the extra weight would mean that he is not drained and this could have benefits for any weakness in his chin. Overall, I think that Haye has a great chance to capture one or more of the divisions belts as it currently stands. Haye has enough ability to beat any heavyweight in the world, depending on circumstances.
:good He'd probably decide to fight him like he did agianst sultan, but the thing with that is that haye is a better all round boxer than sultan.
haye is not a hw contender right now. he is just a prospect until he steps in and defeats legit competition. Must prove he can carry his power up and take hw punches because he will be hit. and id like to see him fight these guys in this order: Rahman, Sultan, Povetkin, Peter, but as of right now: wlad: wlad tko 4 chagaev, iggy: hayes loses clearly on pts valuev: late tko for valuev or narrow pts decision either way peter: peter tko 7 povetkin: 50-50 fight
