Haye - better than Lewis?

Well technically speaking he was as Audley beat him 1st in a debateable stoppage.. :yep

 

May be it is but it gives reporters something to write about doesnt it? Considering Boxing News subscription has been steadily rising over the past few years and there info is always out of date much like the ring (bar small hall show information and matchups) i dont really see what the problem is with a debate. We all know what the obvious answer is.

 

It's too early to talk about this. I would say no though for two reasons.

Firstly, Haye doesn't seem as versatile as Lewis. He may come unstuck with shorter heavweights with a good chin. He did well with cruisers like this but also got caught a lot by Fragomeni and Mormeck.

Secondly, and most importantly, he won't have time to surpass Lewis' achievments. He has already said he will retire in 3 years time, which may be enough to win the title and unify but it won't be enough to build a legacy as good as Lewis'.

Haye was getting hammered by Lasse Johansen. He was fortunate to get what was a disputed stoppage and took quite a few licks in the process. Bottom line is Haye is a very talented fighter. But the bandwagons and fanboyism is out of hand. Haye can achieve much if he disciplines himself.But i doubt well see the dedication that he had in the Enzo bout again.

 

It's hard to read too much into that clip about Haye. He's such a different boxer now. He doesn't take a great shot to the temple though..mormeck got him there tooo and made his legs doa s illy dance. His chin is fine..his temple not so much so.
