I thought the same thing. Difference is, Clubber had been battering heavyweights and earned his shot.
What did Hatton do to deserve a shot at Mayweather or Calzaghe do to desreve a shot at Hopkins or Mosley do to desrve a shot at De La Hoya?
I am a big fan of Haye, and you are probably right. He has become pretty brash. But you know what, who gives a ****. You would not see Povetkin or Chagaev getting in his face like that, this is becoming a rivalry ffs, in the HW's:yikes Now that is worth something. Already, Haye has stirred up a rivalry with Klitschko, the main man and is making drama, like we saw there. This is a bit of hype and excitement, it should be welcomed.
People say there was a big size difference - I didn't see a big margin. Haye was on a lower step too wasn't he.
I respect Haye as a fighter and have previously found him to be refreshingly confident with a hint of arrogance. I still respect him as a figther but thats turned to full blown arrogance. It will be his undoing. Wlad tko 4.
I like Haye. But yea...it will definitely be better if he gets a couple of wins under the belt at HW first.
You would be right if not for the mandatory defenses & unification, both of which are far more important than Haye at this point.
If Thompson was a voluntary defense Haye would have a point but he's not so the point is moot. I think Haye is afraid he'll be exposed vs. the true top 10 HW's so he might as well go for broke against the top guy & the obvious biggest money fight for him at HW. If Haye were truly serious he'd want to prove he's worthy vs. Danny Williams, Audley Harrison, James Toney, Hasim Rahman, etc. Then and only then is he worthy IMO.
