I think you're forgetting he was the first British fighter to ever reach a world amateur final, winning a silver medal. In fact Froch beat him to the honour of being the Brit ever to win a medal by a day or so.

He was also the unified, and undisputed number one cruiser before he decided to jump up a division. So he's actually not all that bad inside the ring after all.

You got to admit he hasn't really done much or beat anyone of note at heavyweight though.

the EBU the BBBC the LBF are all private companies , they cannot decide who boxes in any country period:deal

this is why white collar boxing - tough man- semi pro etc can happen/

Anyone can set up another euro britsh or world body at any time

Boxing is unregulated as much as these guys think they are regulaters and ultimate make decisions- they are
    NOT !!

The Valuev and Ruiz wins are okay. I'll admit that his performances at heavyweight have certainly been underwhelming. I don't think battering Chisora will do anything to improve his standing either.

OK? Ruiz hadn't beat a rated fighter in about 6 years and Valuev was coming off a disputed win over a 46 year old shell that used to be Evander Holyfield

Ruiz was his mandatory. For his fourth fight at the weight I think it wasn't such a terrible matchup.

Valuev was definitely ranked in the top ten. I appreciate the controversy surrounding the Holyfield decision, but it was a sensible route towards landing himself a title. Oscar didn't deserve to get the decision against Sturm, but his fight against Hopkins was still billed as a unification fight. JMM won the Ring's 135 lbs title against Casamayor, despite Casamayor retaining the title in dubious fashion against Santa Cruz.

In short a contentious decision shouldn't undermine Valuev as a legitimate scalp.

The BBBc are now an organisation "Not fit for purpose" they have to be crushed! I hate bullies like we all do, i'am no fan of fwank but yer can't allow faceless amatuer outfits like the BBBc too oversee our sport, they are a pack of ****in cowboys who are an embarassment to boxing never mind their **** 4 brains business acumen.

Who are these ****ers???? It's a ltd company!! who's the directors & shareholders??? They better start getting a new supply of panties as there all going to be pursued for damages & rightly so!! These pricks at the BBBc have bought the gun, loaded the gun & stuck it to their own heads & pulled the trigger. Clueless clowns who've shown themselves incapable of managing the sport.

The Federation Luxembourgeoise de Boxe (Luxembourg Boxing Federation) convened a special general meeting in Luxembourg tonight to discuss the European Boxing Union (EBU) vote and to decide whether they are remaining on course to back the David Haye v Dereck Chisora fight at West Ham United in London on Saturday 14th July and to develop the sanctioning of the show in the UK.

The vote of the 12 members was 8 votes IN FAVOUR and 4 votes against. Therefore the LBF is backing the show along with the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and the World Boxing Association (WBA), who’s International and Intercontinental titles will be contested, and the promotion will definitely go ahead.

    Spot on.

People love to trash his heavyweight record but he beat a legit top 5 heavyweight to win a strap, had a decent gatekeeper bouncing up and down on the canvas, KO'd his mandatory (former multi world champ), KO'd the Euro champ/Olympic Gold medallist and took on the #1 lost a decision in Germany.

That's not bad for new heavyweight.

I wonder how much the sanctioning body gets for licensing this fight. Must be a decent pay out.

Unless the BBBofC and EBU back down on the stance over the fight, it is looking almost certain this morning that the WBO will start to sanction European title fights.

This fight has not only fractured the sport on a national level, but now also on a European level.
