takes two to fight. Haye had no interest in fighting. Just like he had no interest in fighting Valuev. How many times does Haye have to do this before you quit with the excuses? Thank god Jack Dempsey wasn't scared of Jess Willard :rofl

The fight was a joke and the broadcast I watched (HBO) the commentators were openly laughing at Haye from about the 6th round on. They even said Haye had no intention of trying to make a fight of it. It was obvious by his tactics. Just like it was obvious against Valuev. Will you finally admit this if he does it yet again against the oldest, most uninterested, fattest version of Vitali? Will you? No reason for Haye to not engage in that fight right?

I realize you Brits have very few World level fighters left but having to cling to a guy like David Haye is sad and ridiculous.

Going to be hard to sell a fight that was 118-108 the first time around. The WBC belt won't change that. I can't remember as an uncompetitive fight as that was getting a rematch. I mean should Holmes have rematched Cooney? :rofl:patsch

If he threw Wlad would retreat to the other side of the ring, or tie him up / push him down

There were times when he literally chased him

Haye fought of the back-foot but when he went for it Wlad refused to engage and got out of there sharphish. Hence Haye having to lunge in so often

Both men were equally wary of eachothers power so it made for a cagey affair - but when it came down to it if you want to be pedantic, whenever there was some sort of 'exchange' Wlad would be the one retreating, not Haye, as he was the one who it suited.

Unless you know, the things in the above gifs show something other than the obvious :conf

I dont think a win over Vitali will guarantee him a rematch with Wlad. It took years and years to make the first fight and if he beats Vitali convincingly they wont risk it.

he is going to have to fight the Arreola-Stiverne winner first anyway he won't be able to go straight to Wlad if he wins.

There will be a rematch clause with Wlad, there's no 'guarantee' involved. Beat Vitali and he will CERTAINLY have to rematch Wlad.

If not then he'll have to break contract and probably get sued.

So, from gifs of just seconds of 3 or 4 rounds of the fight it means that Haye tried to engage? :rofl:patsch

What about the other 8 plus rounds and 34 minutes of the fight? It was complete garbage. Haye didn't even try and when he did as those gifts show he threw wild desperation punches that didn't even land.

Not sure what you are trying to show by posting 20 seconds of the fight :huh

Why was it on Haye to make a fight of it?
Wlad was in his home town in front of all his fans, surely it was his duty to deliver on what he promised. He had every advantage over Haye- weight , height, power and reach not to mention 50 + HW fights.
Just because he scraped a points win doesn't excuse the fact he was to afraid to pull the trigger on a CW with a weak chin who had his hands down by his waist.

This is what I had to say when Rico spouted his laughable 'only Tyson or Marciano could KO Haye fighting like that' line.

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I'm sorry Rico, but that is complete and utter bull****. What you should have said is you're not going KO Haye in that style by fighting as a 1-2 fighter who ties up as soon as they throw a power shot.

In their fight Wlad was doing a great job of cutting the ring of behind the jab and trapping Haye against the ropes, he was doing this better than I've ever seen him. The problem is, Wlad only throws a jab and possibly one right hand and as soon as he was done he looks to tie up and lean on his opponent, which is when Haye flopped to the floor to avoid having a 240lb man leaning all his weight down on his back.

Unless you land the perfect shot you're not going to KO a fighter fighting like Haye did by throwing one solid shot then tying them up. If you know you only have to look out for two punches, both straight and down the middle then as long as you have the reflexes it's easy to avoid them. He was just too predictable and too cautious - close the distance with the jab and feints, pin him against the ropes, throw a right hand, tie up and lean. No hooks, no uppercuts, no body shots . . . Haye was so concentrated on evading the shots that once he evaded one he was never in position to fire back a counter with any pop on it, more often that not he was square on. This is the perfect time to let your hands go a bit without risk of getting anything back, he might slip the first jab and right hand, but he won't evade them all - go to the body, throw a combination. But he didn't, he threw the first two and tied up.

Because of Wlad's fast feet, when Haye did attack he looked like a reckless amateur falling in and leaving himself off balance and defenseless - but despite being out of danger and in position to jump on his vulnerable opponent Wlad never once capitalised on this. He was happy to get out of harms way, reset and then come forward behind the jab again.

And I'm not criticising Wlad for that, he was wary of Haye's power and was happy to get the win without taking any unnecessary risks. But to pretend there was simply nothing outside of turning into Tyson or Marciano that a fighter could have done to KO Haye in that fight is ****ing laughable. Wlad fought as cautious of a fight as I've seen him fight and the same goes for Haye - the result was what we all saw.

I don't know if it's because you can't criticise your beloved Klitschkos because of your bizzarre grown-man-crush, if it's because you hate David Haye or simply because you DKSAB - but that was an appalling post.

Um, because his whole premise of moving up to the Heavyweight Division was to be exciting and 'Save' the Division from the boring Klitschko's....Do you not remember all that crap? All the talk of brutal KO's and such? And the guy shows up and didn't even try? You don't see an issue with that? The guy talked for 2.5 years for christ sakes and showed up and did zilch. :rofl

    Yea, Wlad doesn't take chances.
As Manny said he just wants everything to be perfect, this is small flaw.

Great boxer, rather boring to watch.

I was being sarcastic you Glass Jawed British muppet and there are far more fighters that could have KOed Haye than Marcinao and Tyson. Are you that thick and dense that you didn't get that? Who wants to chase some guy around the ring? That was my point.

Haye is a Disgrace. Most Boxing fans outside of the UK recognize that.

I might be able to get excited for this, but I'm not going to chance it until it's 100% official.

What about all Wlads talk? He was in his home town. Why didn't he make the effort.
The amount of punches he landed on Haye for the entire fight , most fighters would throw in a round.
HAYE lay on the ropes and inticed Wlad to come in and knock him out and big Wlad just stood there.

Marciano was the greatest in his era, but he got dropped by Archie Moore.
Archie was a VERY good puncher at lhw, but he aint no "true" hw puncher.

I think Haye and Marciano are much more even (h2h) than you're thinking.
