Yes - he has a lot to say especially when he slates the current crop of heavy weight protaganists and title holders.

Win or lose - he has my respect because rather than fight bums he always fights an opponent who, on paper at least, will present him with a challenge. His first fight at heavy weight is against Barrett who has fought past and present heavy weight champions.

Whilst I have the utmost respect for the the Klitskhos - Vitali moreso - seldom these days do we get genuine match-ups at heavy weight. The fact that Wlad has signed to fight Rahman - a fighter who's seen better days - speaks for itself.

Do we really need to see fights that we already know the outcome to!? I certainly think not, and at least with Haye we are treated to the element of the unknown.

Sink or swim he has my respect for trying to shake up and reinvigorate a stale and stagnant heavy weight division!

    Haye has my respect .....
as soon as he convincingly beats Barret.

That is respect for being a legidimit heavyweight contender - as a Cruiserweight he already has it.

haye is a smart man. Hasn't fought in forever and is still a major boxing attraction. The man is business savvy you can't doubt it.

How good is he as a fighter? I thought that the shape he came into against Macc he could be top10 p4p. At 230 i think he might be a little bit slow and sluggish.

Absolutely, and in fact this is what he generally doesn't get credit for.

He's great at raking in the money fights - while loads of folks thought Enzo Macc was an excellent "test" the reality was he had a suspect chin and the fight was very winnable. Rather than fight in the public "interest" or to "secure" his legacy, Haye was fighting for the dollars and cents (or pounds and pence, as the case may be). He knew the fight would generate lots of coverage on the British circuit, and he shrewdly took moves to ensure he brought Fisheyes Warren to the table.

Not only that, it made his move up to HW all the more marketable.

Haye is my fav HW (without even really establishing himself), but my worry is that he's sort of a cash fighter at the mo - his usual confidence in winning doesn't appear to be there (at least not according to the types of interviews I've been reading).

I worry whether his dedication level is up to the job he has set himself up for - which is by no means a gimme; in this fight or beyond.

Maccaroni was just another UK poser, looked good on paper, like **** in person. If Cunningham fights him, Maccaroni retires. I for one hope Barrett knocks that smug ass look off Haye's pretty boy face. With Haye carrying his left below his waist, Monte's big right hand should knock his block off and end all of Haye's bragadocio about dominating the HW division. My bet is that he slinks back to cruiser, where he can beat up on al the Euro pillows out there.

David Haye's talent needs to be respected because he's definitely more skilled than at least 90 % of the active heavyweights.

  10. I really hope all his hype can bring life into the heavyweight division. Hopefully he can be the LennoxLewis

What the fk are you writing? He claimed for months that he would fight a top ranked heavyweight. Barett is a FRINGE CONTENDER.

He called Toney not a wothy opponent and claimed he would knock out Klitschko. When he had the oportunity to fight both, he backed out.

If you do not know it yet, , 40 year old James Toney fights Tony Thompson who is superior to Barett. If Haye deserves credit, what does James Toney deserve?

He's bringing some much needed attention and entertainment to the heavyweight division, can't hate him for that and I'm a fan of his. All this trash talking is him promoting his self, nothing wrong with that.

What? Gamboa has fought nobody of any note yet. Haye has fought the Ring Magazine and WBC World Champion, the WBO World Champion, a European Champion and several contenders who fought for world titles.

There is absolutely no comparison to Gamboa at all, and that is because Gamboa has only had 12 fights and not 22.
