Haye did have brief success with Wlad,

Wlad won because Haye threw about 2 punches a round.
Wlad couldn't land **** though.

I think we need more discussion on Wlad's inability to connect any punches.

 

I'm not riding Haye's hump over the fight, He fought very well, probably as good as anybody could do against a man 6'6" 242lb in his prime with almost 60 pro fights..

 

Wlad had huge problems in there, no doubt.

But to be fair, he did land three solid rights that had Hayes head flinging backwards. And according to Haye himself, he was "peppered by the jab", so I assume some of them landed before Haye started to move with them, using his head sway back-routine.

The disappointment with Haye is that he at least in theory had the tools to trouble Wlad with his athleticism and power, but he didn't have the guts to back up his talk and go after Wlad. Instead, he used the same blueprint that he used to barely beat Valuev, counterpunching on the outside with few single shots, which most knew had little chance of working beforehand, and he never changed his gameplan when it was shown to be ineffective in the ring. Wlad, for his part, did actually at least try to make the fight, even though he didn't back up his talk of punishing Haye and still fought tentatively as usual.

 

Wlad won most of the rounds clearly. I can't say there was one round Haye clearly won. He flopped instead of fighting. He talked so much smack he deserves more criticism than he's getting.. not less.

 

That prety much sums it up. If Haye would have backed away and throw 10 punches at the air at the end of every round, he would have won, because In a fight where neither guy is landing anything, the guy who throws more wins. In this case, that was Wlad.

 

Aint no moral victories.

David Haye is a massive flop.

 

all bull****, haye got dominated for most of the rounds and he was forced to look for that lucky shot, he failed and lost.
Based on all his talk for 2 years its logical that he is getting laughed at now.
