I Sky+'d Ringside last night and am now watching the run through. Booth mentioned Wlad who is just under a month away from a fight where he could get cut or injured whereas Vitali has a mandatory, but the fighters have not had their eliminator yet. The easiest fight appears to be Vitali as there is a clear road. The Booth mentions Haye's mandatory against Chagaev, but we no the WBA have a policy of Super Champions to enable unifications. This reminds me of the FW offer to Groves to fight Degale. Booth dodged the fight, by making a counter offer he knew Degale would not accept
i dont know whats going on but i venture to suggest haye fancies his chances with wlad more than vitali (for obvious reasons) but one thing i do know is haye AND a klitscho will fight next , booth and haye know they will not gt any more money from the public unless its vs the drago brothers
I got that impression too that they would rather Wlad than Vitali, and with good reason. He's got slightly more chance against Wlad. I think Vitali hands him a real hiding, and think Wlad does too but he has folded under pressure from a quick starting fighter b4.
I think a fight with Wladimir makes more sense. He's the number 1 at the moment and has a better history with Haye. Plus this way if Haye wins, Vitali will be older when they fight and that'll sell better because this time it'll be the bigger brother he's fighting. Did make me laugh at Adam Booth claiming that mandatories are one of the main reasons this fight hasn't happened.. umm you just voluntarily defended against Audley Harrison ffs! As for the Groves-DeGale thing, FW also knew that Booth wouldn't accept his offer.
Hasn't wlad got more titles than his brother? Makes sense to fight him first. I'd pick haye in either fights tbh. I reckon vitali is massively overated and that people think about him with rose tinted glasses on (the lewis fight in '03).
Booth's stalling tactics are quite clear. Whichever fight is on the table he will say he wants the other brother. He's went back and forth on this 3 times already. For some strange reason he always wants the brother who is tied up with a fight, never the one who is free :think This is not about them wanting Wlad because they think he's the easier fight. It's about them not wanting either fight, at least not yet.
like I said last night, given the amount of contract issues Haye has, especially with Sauerland, and Vitali's contract with RTL having expired, Haye would be best fighting Vitali 1st, means he gets that last fight option with ARD and Sauerland out the way. If he wins then he get his mega showdown with Wlad.
Another thing that makes me laugh is that apparently Haye now deserves at least 50/50 because he's the champion as well. No he's not, he's the pretend heavyweight champion. Wladimir Klitschko is THE Heavyweight Champion of the World. The Klitschko's don't need him half as much as he thinks they do. They should just offer a straight 50/50 again and if Booth and Haye don't accept they should just forget about him until he at least fights a proper top 10 contender. Plus all this bollocks about "oo the Klitcshko's want too many options" gets on my nerves. Haye fought Valuev a year ago with way more options and in that joke against Audley, Kalle Sauerland's one of the first people into the ring to "congratulate" him.
A lot people like you dont really understand what is going on. Of course haye can demand 50/50 and even more as he is a champion. Haye should get a bigger portion of the ppv as he generates more money from sky than the klits with their tv company, whats wrong with that? Also when he fought valuev he was not the mandatory challenger so he either have to accept sauerland's terms or not get a crack at the title. He is a champion now, so he doesnt need to accept any unreasonable terms the klits demands. As well as a very talented boxer haye with adam booth are very intelligent mens too, the easy fight v harrison also means its another one out of the way on the sauerland contract. SO many ppl talk so much nonsense here, failing to distinguish that its up the boxers/managers/promotors on how they wish to negotiate big complicated contracts.
It makes sense to fight Wlad first because he's much more likely to win which would set up another big fight (and payday) against Vitali.
We all understand that this is how boxing works and has always done. However as fans, we have a right to fairly criticise Haye's recent choice of opponents. He said he'd do what other boxers don't do and not mess about and fight the Klitschko's rather than go after paper titles. He's done the complete opposite. Boxing will continue to decline as long as fans are happy to support these awful 'title' fights. I respect that boxing's a tough business but at the end of the day, Haye has so far been a con-man in the heavyweight division by pretending to be the 'world champion'.
He's the IBF champion and Haye is the WBA champion. There isn't one heavyweight champion of the world.
as it stands, Wlad has the Ring title, that is enough for me to say he is the Heavyweight champion of the world.
I don't give a ****, I want to see Haye battle it out with either of the brothers and a battle it will be. Respect to the winner and the loser.
