IT's a sad day when a past it heavyweight and a middle ranking heavyweight are a bigger draw than two top class fighters in whats a 50/50 fight.
i wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't shown at all in the states. after all, there are no american boxers involved and they almost didn't show o'neil bell - mormeck II until MSG stepped in at the last minute. it will almost definitely get shown in the uk. but i think DK will be selling the broadcasting rights to the highest bidder rather than it definitely going to sky. maybe setanta will bid for the fight to attract more subscribers
just noticed a david haye interview on british boxing news... http://www.britishboxing.net/news_2704-Haye-I-want-to-fly-the-flag-for-Britain.html with regards to tv coverage he says.. "Its being shown live on free cable in America so a lot of people are going to watch it, which is a real big bonus for me. This is the first fight the Americans will get to see me and they are going to see me smash Mormeck to bits. I just can't wait to get in there, I'm just trying not to peak too soon, that's definitely the factor with me. I'm just holding it down and taking my training steady because I just want to keep going and going. Adam Booth has really been taking it [the training] to another level and I just can't wait to get in there and take him out.” Then the floor was opened for questions. Responding to a query about television coverage on these shores, the Londoner pointed out that he and his team have no control over where the rights are sold as Don King holds all the rights. The Hayemaker also pointed out Don King's previous form of last minute selling while acknowledging, "We knew that when we signed the contract.” worst comes to the worst and i might end up having to catch a stream of the fight, but DK would have to be insane not to sell the UK broadcasting rights to Sky or Setanta or even ITV / BBC
