Honest answer? Haye's career for the last couple of years has been a total farce. He has told blatant and outrageous lies, faking injuries etc. Yet his fanbase and the local media ignore that and instead praise him as though he were some kind of demi-god. When you get away with anything at all, then why would you be careful? If you perpetuate obvious fraud and are rewarded for it, why would you care about hiding it? Haye has faced 0 consequences for his behaviour - he has no incentive to change.
It does look dodgy. I don't see why someone with a complex like Audley would want to participate in a fixed fight like that, though. He's always been obsessed with being the world champ (in fact he claimed he would be undisputed, years ago) so would he really want to do this, even taking the money into account? Even if he did agree to it, why not put up a better performance and make himself look less pathetic? He literally threw zero real shots and then got KO'd. Surely someone like Audley would want to look a bit better than that. Also, if you've seen the video of him in his dressing room after the fight, he actually looks devastated, with tears in his eyes. I don't actually know if it was fixed or not. What I DO know is that it was embarrassing for Audley, Haye, and every person who paid to watch that farce. It was even embarrassing for boxing as a whole.
Because... if he had accidentally landed a flush shot and KTFO Haye - then all the money that they both bet on Haye winning by third round KO is lost. Let's say it was a fix. Lets say they both had a **** load of cash on Haye to win in the third round. Would you risk hitting Haye's suspect chin? Imagine... in the second round... Audley throws a tentative jab, aiming one foot in front of Haye's chin. Haye gets caught moving in. Haye goes down. Ref: 1!....2!.... Audley: (Oh ****! I bet half a million on Haye winning next round!) Ref: 3!....4!.... Audley: Hey REF! Look over there! OMG! It's a crocodile! Ref: What the hell? Can't you see I'm counting? 5!..... Audley: Hey REF! It's sweet baby ****ing Jesus man! Look over there! Ref: Are you ****ing insane? Get back into the neutral corner! 6!..... Audley: (Drops his pants) Hey REF! Want some of this? Come on, creampie me baby! Right in the starfish! Ref: Pants up or you are disqualified idiot! Where was I..... oh yeah... 7!.... Audley: Hey REF! In the front row! Arum and Roach are tongue kissing each other's assholes! Look, mother****er look! Ref: Now I know you are full of ****. Those guys are self respecting homosexuals, and they always do their kinky **** in the privacy of their own homes or in the hotel room well before and well after a fight. Oh ****... what was I up to? 8!..... I think..... Audley: Hey REF! Look over there! It's Sugar Nicky Valuev! Ref: (Turns around) where? where? Audley (props up Haye's corpse): My mistake. Hey looks like Haye beat the count, that lucky *******...
I agree and he was just stopping because he didn't want to pull a Mike Jones and throw 100 useless punches and wait to see and opening and maybe see if Audley was hurt
I wonder if we're going to have a similar video after Haye v Wlad?? Y'know were we see Haye say something that looks like "now" just before he drops Wlad for the count??
It wasn't so much a fix as a set up. They've been mates for years, right. Harrison's career is finished and Haye won't risk his future against real top ten heavyweights. Between them they know these things better than all of us. I have absolutely no doubt that between themselves they knew the fight was never going to be more than an exhibition. However for obvious reasons Haye had to be seen to win. I am quite sure that it was preordained for them to spar a couple of rounds and for Haye to open up in the third to make it look convincing (fail!). They cooked this up between themselves for sure. This fight(?) provided Harrison with a final big pay day and it kept Haye away from legit heavyweight competition. Don't forget they cleaned up with £10 million at the gate and who knows how much with the dodgy 3rd round betting. I've absolutely no doubt that Haye signaled "now" to Harrison to let him know that it was time for the big finish. The whole thing was unforgivable. David Haye. Worst heavyweight champ EVER!
It looks like haye taunting harrison.... I cant hear it...to be honest.......i doubt fix....but none the less a horrible opponent and a horrible match making by haye and his manager david caldwell.
I was already convinced that the fight was a set up before I saw the multi view clip. It does look very much like Haye signals "now" to Harrison just before he unloads. Given the pre existing controversy the clip does constitue evidence of sorts. There really should be an investigation. I mean was Harrison even ranked in the WBA top ten? How can anyone think this was a legitimate bout? Holmes v Butterbean was more competitive! The whole thing stinks! Lets hope Vitali gives Haye a real good hiding.
A totally disgusting fight.Harrisbum only got a shot at the WBA heavyweight title because of what? His best mate helped him.Haye is a disgrace, god i hope he is ko`d soon.
It wasn't "horrible" match making, it was "clever" match making. At least as far as they were concerned. Its all about the money for these guys. Harrison was an easy £10 million while they sort out a fight with Vitali. Haye wont risk a loss against any legit heavyweights for fear of ruining a big payday with Vitali or Wlad. The whole thing was a sham from the false bad mouthing, to the Lewis / Bruno comparisons. The fight itself was clearly a set up between two old friends to make an easy pile of cash and help prolong Haye's career.
