chef, don't make yourself look dumb because of your profession with the klitschko's. yes marketability does play a big factor in boxing, but the truth is champions that move weight divisions are automatically rated very highly in their new division, and some fighters are able to get title shots straight away.

come on... it was a calculated marketing plan by Haye. Call out the best...talk ****... get on the HW radar and move up in the rankings and get people talking... it was very smart. I give haye that.

but to say he deserved the shot right away? come on now. He beat barrett and walked away from Wlad. IMO that doesnt seem like enough to leap frog over other guys to get a title shot.

    BUT

It is what it is... the bigger question is... what will he do now that he has a belt?

That is just one example and may have been optional as Holyfield wanted some time to get accustomed to HW.

i never said haye deserved a title shot, i'm just saying how it works when you're a champion going into another weight division. truth be told, haye never needed to talk crap to be ranked high going up in weight, but it was a marketable plan to make a possible fight with wladimir more interesting to create more money, which is what the division lacks. the fight fell through a few times, because apparantly what the klitschko's was offering was not good enough, and if the demands are true, then it was a pathetic offer that had no serious meaning to get the fight made in my opinion. now haye is the champion, it'll be interesting to see how he performs against ruiz, and to see how he reacts about calling out either klitschko.

So Haye being the undisputed CW Champ shouldn't have counted for anything?

Should he have started at the bottom of the rankings and worked his way up? Like others have said, what did SRL do at 160 before fighting Hagler? What has Martinez achieved to deserve a shot at Pavlik?

Haye is an exciting, charismatic former CW Champ and that's enough to leapfrog over the bunch of non-entities who would have been ranked above him.

in retrospect haye was right to walk away from wlad fight.

it was nothing to do with injury as claimed

haye signed german tv rights over to wlad
american tv rights over to wlad
german promoters live gate over to wlad.

haye`s only way of earning any money from this fight was with setanta.

in the build up to the fight setanta started to go into liquidation and did a few days before the fight took place.

haye would not have been paid a single penny from the wlad fight which is why he made up other excuses.

my own view of what he will do now is lose to ruiz.

i think ruiz is tough enough and awkward enough to beat haye.

personally i think haye smashes ruiz apart in three-four rounds. too much speed, power and movement for john ruiz in my opinion. if you've noticed, since ruiz comeback, ruiz has changed his style a bit to become a bit more exciting, so he's not clinching as much, and personally i think it's the clinching style that would cause haye more problems, but now i think ruiz will have trouble with the speed.

i just have the african lighter weight fight whose name will not come into my head who haye fought mock was it ?

if it was mock , he caught haye high on the temple and haye took at least 1 min to recover his equilibrium, badly uncoordinated.and legs like bambi.

i think in the clinches ruiz will hit haye many times on the back of the head and **** up his equilibrium again and win via stoppage sort of how bowe finnally pinned down and decked herbie hide in a clinch after hide`s speed bamboozed bowe early on.

No change. Ruiz has nothing left and even at hes best, Haye would have destroyed him.

    Haye KO 3

of course Haye wiil win with Ruiz thats no question for me

Of course after he was CW king in HW he should be in top 15

And then one fight with top 10 and a title shot

Are Bonin or Barret top 10?

Bonin top 1000 Barret top 100

i watched ruiz v valuev a little while ago and while i agree with boxingscience, riuiz has changed his style a little to stop being booed , he still looked as tough and awkward as ever to me.

yes, that was the mock fight, and haye's legs were totally gone from that punch. it'll be interesting to see what happens, but at the moment i do believe haye will beat ruiz with too much speed and movement being ruiz's main downfall. ruiz is better than some people give credit for though. he's not got that bad of a resume.
