Okay stylistically, has anyone got a better style to beat Wladimir? Speed and power are lacking in the HW division, and Wladimir is vulnerable to this combination. Haye has a good chance to blow him out early, and if Wlad fights scared, possibly even late.
We all know how Wladimir fights. It's physically impossibile to get past those endless straight shots, unless you're willing to get butchered before landing one of yours, and Haye certainly wouldn't do that, What could he do? Get inside and then jump out? I don't see it happening. It would be interesting though.
haye needs to fight someone really tough in the heavies first to really gauge how effective his power may, or may not be against wladimir. wladimir has run out of steam twice, and only ko'ed properly once by a very hard hitter in sanders. sanders was about 230+ i think and yet his left hand was just as fast as hayes right. haye looked damn impressive in his last fight but remember, macca was knocked out in his 4th pro fight against a crusier who was a nobody. and is easy to hit compared to wladimir. the question really should be, can haye take enough punishment in order to get in enough shots to find out? haye can have all the power in the world, but if he's getting nailed by FAST jabs and nasty right hands, i really dont think he will be that confident to throw. just like macca clammed up the moment he felt haye's power, i feel the same will happen in wlad-haye only it will be haye who is like a rabbit caught in the headlights. i think haye is truly underestimating wladimir and that most likely will mean a brutal ko loss.
Haye is a long way off from beating Wlad. He has the power to KO him for sure. Haye's single fight at heavy ended in a 1st round KO against a guy who admittadly wasn't a legend, but only ever lost once before and by KO in round 9 by Audley Harrison, who though ****, is still a huge heavy and big puncher. So on that basis alone we can say that Haye will still carry big power at heavy. However, the way he fights with left hand so low would make him an easy target for Wlad's right hand. And no chin in the world can eat that punch repeatedly, especially not Haye's, who is far from granite.
Still untested. His chin is a question mark. He's no doubt got the type of talent that no other HW has in terms of raw talents but he's still untested. But it will be interesting to see what he does. I know i'll be keeping an eye on him.
I personally think Haye is a bit small, and his chin is not fully tested yet, to claim that he'd beat Klitschko. He was TKO'd a few years ago by Carl Thompson and floored in a recent fight against Mormeck. Its going to be a huge difference when he steps in the ring with men who are 6'6", 240 Lbs. I also don't think that the cruiserweight division is as good as the heavyweight division anyway. Haye needs to fight several good heavyweights in a progression the way that Holyfield did, before he's properly evaluated as a contender. Sure, he looks like a punching machine at crusierweigth, but historically a lot of guys lose power upon moving up and their chins don't always pass the test.
I think he has a better shot at cleaning the devision than any of the current heavy's and taking out Wlad in the interim. He's got some heavy hands and is very quick but will it carry with him when he gains the extra 20-30 lbs? Also, i didnt like seeing him keep his hands low and chin out against Enzo. Maybe he thought Enzo couldnt hurt him but he sure better wise up when he faces the heavy's.
Agreed, Men like Michael Moorer have looked seemingly invincible when fighting in sub-heavy divisions, but as soon as they moved up, their chins were exposed and their power diminished to some degree. What's more, is that Haye's chin wasn't even that well proven at Cruiserweight. He has already been stopped once and floored in a recent fight. Also, like you say, he may have some defensive issues. Personally, I think if he was thrown in against Povetkin next month, he'd likely lose. Of course, this will not be his first fight, and hopfully he'll compile some wins over a few journeyman and fringe contenders before fighting anyone serious, but I'm not too quick to label him as the next Evander Holyfield. He needs to pass the test first.
haye vs wlad would b a good fight. just not right now. id like to see wlad go at it again wit sam peter
I agree that he should take on a couple of journeymen first but his ego is too big for that. I think they are going to try to get him in a big fight right out of the gate.
Is it normal for top flight cruiserweights to come in just under 200 lbs and have almost no excess on their body like Haye did? How did Holyfield's weigh ins look like during his days at cruiserweight? Did he also have almost no excess on his body and come in barely under 200? Haye looks like he could easily be a solid 200-230 lb HW without having much excess on his body because at 200, he was rock solid.
Moving up to heavyweight from either cruiserweight or lightheavy isn't the way that it used to be 20+ years ago. No, I don't think that today's heavyweights are more talented, in fact I think its quite the contrary, but one fact that can't be ignored is that heavyweights are so much bigger and stronger now, that making a jump from lighter divisions is a much bigger bridge to cross than ever before. In addition, the talent at heavyweight is at least comparable in not better than it is at cruiserweight. Don't get me wrong, Maccarinelli, Mormeck and Bonin are good fighters, but can we really say that they are better or as good as Klitschko, Chagaev, peter or Povetkin? And thats not even factoring the element of pure size and strength. Haye needs to be tested first, but the impatient boxing world will likely force him into a big fight early, and one that may prove to be a set back for him.
A lot of fighters have a puncher's chance against Wlad.Would I bet my money on them against Wlad? No!
The way Wlad has been fighting as of late. I'd pick Haye over him. The ****ing heavyweight division needs a reality check. And I hope David Haye gives them all their check
