I like Haye. He's a bit cocky and brash but he's got some balls calling out Vit before Wald. I don't think he'll win but that kind of mentality and eagerness is what the HW divison needs and if Haye does beat Vit it will rejuvinate the HW division. I hope and wish the best for Haye.
No way, Wlad is bigger, better & has more experience. He'll KO Haye for sure, it just depends on how aggressive Haye is. If David comes out looking for the homerun right away it could be a real ealry KO for Wlad, if he waits & tries to work his way inside Wlad will pick him apart from the outside & stop him late.
No. Not anymore. Under Steward Wlad is no longer an aggressive fighter. At least not in my definition of aggressive. He is content just jabbing your face off all night if you don't open up and pressure him. With his height and reach, Haye would really have to lunge and open himself up to counter bombs just to get his shots off. Vitali does like to counter, but he is also far more aggressive minded than todays Wlad. He isn't as good of a jabber and won't settle for jabbing from range all night anyway. Just look at the percentage of power punches of the two lately. When you throw those power shots, that is when you are open to shots yourself. Hence Haye with his speed may be able to land his own shots even as counters to counters or with feints. Unfortunately for him, Vitali has a solid chin and will probably blast him out after a brief shootout.
Bull****, Wlad has said he wants to fight Haye after he earns a shot by beating a couple of Heays..................not a lot to ask either.
Wlad did not counter Ibragimov, he did not counter Austin, he did not counter Brewster, he did not counter Brock and he did not counter Thompson. He's not a counter puncher... He's an opportunist, probes his opponent with a jab, looks for his openings and then explodes but almost always presses his opponent. Vitali on the other hand leans back and throws a counter jab or counter left hook(omg the power number the power number) which distorts the percentage of power shots and when he sees he's wobbled his opponent with a counter shot he comes in with the right then goes back to countering. Haye will press Vitali, get cought with a counter left and then wind up hugging with the 240+ pound man... Haye will land but he can't keep it up for long, not with his stamina.
I never said wlad was a counter puncher. I said he wasn't aggressive. There is nothing distorting of power punch stats. Either you throw them or you don't. If you throw them, that is the best chance for leaving yourself open. Other than that I pretty much think we are saying the same thing. I just think Haye would have a better chance landing on the slower, less defensive minded Vitali which for him against these giants is his only shot. Either way he gets punished.
He has loads of confidence and has a great attitude. I wish all fighters took on the hardest fights possible as Haye seems to. I think Vitali is too much for him at this point, but you have to commend him for his attitude. He's like a throwback to the old days.
A great attitude toward prospective opponents, and one that should be seen in boxing more; sadly it isn't. Good stuff, Mr Haye.
Hang on, surely all up and coming fighters want to fight the title holders? Why is everyone giving Haye so much respect and saying he has balls? Who wouldn't do it? It just seems to me that he's the only fighter with his own personal channel on tv.
I would like to respectfully inform you that what ever you think Vitali is... he is still a defense-first fighter who looks to aggravate his opponents with a jab and then create combinations off a quick left hook counter as they lunge in. Only opponent able to land flush on Vitali? Lennox Lewis...
