HAYE: I'LL BE BACK By David Anderson 5/06/2009 David Haye hopes to rearrange his world heavyweight title clash with Wladimir Klitschko for July 11 after revealing he had to pull out because of a back injury. Wbo and IBF king Klitschko was furious when he was told at his training camp in the Austrian Tyrol that Haye had withdrawn from their June 20 showdown in Gelsenkirchen. The south Londoner insists it is only a temporary setback. He has flown back to Britain from his training camp in northern Cyprus for treatment and hopes to be back in the gym within weeks. The former undisputed cruiserweight world champ said: "I'm sorry to disappoint all my fans across the world and I hope that once I have had treatment, I will be able to start training again and we can get the fight on as soon as possible." --------- This content is protected
3 weeks sounds like they're being overly optimistic regarding an injury thats preventing from training.
Haye is just buying time. I doubt if he is really injured. He needs more time to prepare for Vlad. Won't do him any good though.
Did you even watch that fight? Punches didn't stop Wladimir.. he dropped like a bag of **** pretty much of his own volition.. Freak incident, doubt it will happen again. But I give Corrie Sanders full credit for his K.O of Wlad, no controvery there.
Hayes will be back, an it will be late august, cause wlad is going to **** this punk, by taking this big paycheck that moron helped create an fight someone else on the 20th, that is what he gets for not earning a title shot, ha ha ha ha ha, I take would take brian minto, give him a half a million, then pocket the rest,,,,that would **** pizza face off
you guys have NO idea how hard it would be to change a fight of this size 3 weeks... you have Fans(hotels booked and ticket sale returns for those who cant make it) TV contracts, stadium contracts, ETC... not as easy as everyone things. PLUS...no guarantee that Haye will only need 3 weeks
Because it's a huge, sold-out soccer arena for which many people already booked a trip. I wouldn't mind if Wlad fights a stiff like Toney and then still has his bout with Haye. But if it falls through, that would really suck.
:good I personally think Wlad should fight someone else on the 20th. Then rearrange Haye for later in the year. And give Haye more time for physiotherapy and not aggressive physiotherapy. Say if Wlad desides to go for a 3 week delay, and Hayes back still isn't 100% with possablity of a cancellation again. Not good for all involved
The Veltins Arena is free for July 11. Setanta are happy to screen the fight on July 11 as there are no other fights they have scheduled for this date- basically 3 things need to happen for this fight to go ahead: 1- TV: RTL (the German broadcaster) & HBO are also screening the fight live. They will have a big say as to whether they want Haye or Chagaev. 2- Wlad himself: the guy is so pissed with Haye can you blame him for wanting to fight someone else? Wlad regularly fights and this is the longest he has been out of the ring for some time. 3- The Fans (unfortunately they won't be a big factor in the final decision): It's not rare if an event is rescheduled to still be able to use your original ticket with the previous date on. Most British fans would have most trouble rebooking flights and hotel rooms with refunds on their original purchases. A large British contingent were due to go over to Germany- does anyone in the Klitschko camp care if they don't get what they paid for? Personally, considering all factors I think it's best to go ahead with the new date. Wlad will never hear the end of it if he fights someone else and let's be fair- most of us were looking forward to Wlad V Haye not Wlad V ...?
