I'm serious - that's just a standard left hook, he just moves his upper body at the last second to avoid an incoming punch
You don't know what a check hook is do you? You are supposed to throw it with your feet planted then immediately move.... if you have the room to do so. Leaping back as Wlad did afterward, is the same effect as pivoting/rotating around which you can also do. The desired effect is to land on them... and have them hit thin air. The only difference here is that Peter wasn't driving in that hard... which is why Wlad didn't need to pivot away. Of course... Mayweather vs Hatton... Mayweather HAD to pivot to the side because his back was to the ropes, and Hatton was also leaping. That is not the only way to throw a check hook. They call it a check hook simply because you are checking the person as they come in. The point of the punch in general is to catch an aggressive fighter lunging in with his shots. Which Wlad did in the GIF that I showed.
No, that is NOT a check hook man. That is left hook, followed by a step back. There is a difference. Throwing a left hook with planted feet is just a left hook. Don't make me start a poll, haha
I'm actually not 100% sure but I think his right foot is too planted for it to be a check hook. Either way, it has the same effect. Good find.
All of you guys just found out what a check hook was when Mayweather landed one on Hatton. Which is why you don't understand anything about it. Why do you think they call it a check hook? Answer: Because you are catching an aggressive person with a hook as they come in. What should you do after throwing the check hook? Move out of the way so that their punch hits thin air, and they are sent off balance. Now... does it matter if you pivot or leap back... if you land the hook and they hit thin air? Obviously not. You still got the same effect. You should always throw your punches with your feet planted... and then move. As you can see... Even Mayweather's feet were planted when he threw the left hook... Then he got out of the way. Mayweather didn't even pivot... he just leaped away as well. Of course, where the punch took place, and Hatton leaping in the air as he was getting hit gave it a different look... however, both are check hooks. This content is protected I am sure that you still won't understand.
So a check hook is a left hook where you opponent is made to miss? And a left hook is what? A punch where you also get hit? And how you can say that Mayweather's feet are planted when that hook lands is beyond me. The whole punch is different - he is opening his body up so that he is side on, his left foot coming off the ground and moving a foot to his left for the duration of the punch and his back foot pivots. I can't believe your'e comparing to two. It's poll time my friend
Mayweather was simply jumping out early because he had to. He also leaps with his punches more than Wlad in general. That doesn't mean that is how every check hook is supposed to land. Like I said... that is the ONLY way that you know a check hook to be... so it's understadable that you don't know that isn't the only way to throw a check hook. You simply don't understand that much about boxing. Mayweather moved the way that he NEEDED to move in that particular situation. A left hook is a left hook. You throw it, and you land it or don't... whether your opponent is standing still, ect... and you bring your gloves back up to protect, ect... A check hook is when you are fighting an opponent aggressively coming in... you time them... and catch them coming in aggressive then immediately move away so they hit thin air. Pretty damn simple... it's not a complicated move.atsch By all means... start your silly poll. I am sure that you will find plenty of dumb dumbs to agree with you. As ESB polls usually go.
Haye will keep at distance, jab a little and look for the occasional big right hand, it's what he does. Where it may get interesting is on the inside. I'm not convinced Wlad has an inside game, Haye does, not great but it's there. Just hope the ref doesn't break them everytime they get close. My prediction is and always has been Wlad mid-late stoppage. Am I the only one who thinks style wise they're going to clash and make for a boring fight while it lasts? Seriously I have visions of the crowd booing by the 3rd round.
So basically you are saying "I am right and you are wrong and anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot". Also, about two posts ago you tried arguing that that hook was the same as the one thrown by Wlad in the gif and that both of Floyd's feet were planted, now you're admitting that he was moving out of the way 'just because he had to'? At least be consistent man
Haye will not in anyway look intimidated or scared by Wlad because he isnt, thats fantasy stuff in your head now.
