Haye said 'if I prove myself in the heavyweight division by beating 2 top 10 guys, and you beat your mandatories and get them out of the way will you fight me', and Wlad was stumped and said 'you have to prove yourself', which Haye said he would already do because he said if he does prove himself will he fight him then and Wlad just said nothing.

 

If he wanted to fight Haye he would of stepped up to the plate and said 'if, if you beat 2 top 10 guys and prove yourself, then I will fight you', instead of responding to Haye saying 'if I prove myself will you fight me' with 'you need to prove yourself'. atsch

 

James Toney will castrate his ass. BTW, "Garnett" is God, and Boston is the City of Champions. Only thing decent to come out of Cali is the Suga. :hat

 

I do understand, but he looked a bit stupid backing down from a challenge. He does not want to fight Haye, face it.

 

Haye hardly bad mouthed him though, he was a bit loud but didn't say anything bad. He just went 'Wladimir' and then asked him how he was doing etc and then said are we gonna fight and then Wlad was like you have to prove yourself and then Haye said basically if I prove myself and once you beat those mandatories will you fight me then and still he said the same thing.

 

Backing down from a challenge?

So i guess he was scared of Roy and Fat Toney and every other C level heavy who calls out his name.

Everybody in and around De La Hoya's weight class call him out everytime they get a TV camera thrown in there face.The challenger has everything to gain.

 

gotta agree with tommy - haye was asking if he did his part of the deal, take on two top ten guys, beat them both - could their be a fight on the cards. for whatever reason wlad didnt give any reasons to think this could be an option.

now haye isnt going to be the best of all time, possibly not even a top 10 atg heavyweight. but he has enough power and speed to scare the **** out of anyone in the division. In the first 3-4 rounds - Haye is DAMNED dangerous to anyone in the division. After that it becomes more interesting. But right now, i'm willing to bet he's avoided by everyone virtually, only people going to take him on are the ones who has nothing to lose and everything to gain - and even then they might not like it.

another thing to note - danny williams who is looking for a world title fight with Peter, has actually said that Haye could beat every single heavyweight out there, and he is a regular sparring partner for Haye. Considering he's been in with a fair few fighters, inc. tyson (albeit virtually shot), and Klitscho, I think his comments should make some people stop and think - hang on, maybe rather than write him off we should wait and see what happens. He's being very smart is "Mr. Haye", he's not rushing into anything, taking his time, really working on fitness etc. And he's making more and more noise so that by the time it happens (IF), the fight between him and Klitscho could well be the biggest fight in boxing. Look - he keeps saying he doesnt want him to lose to his "two bums" - Thompson, and Povetkin - what happens? People tune in to watch Klitscho, to see if he loses or not, Haye is big box office in Britain, undisputed Cruiser champ, and beat another local rival in devastating fashion. Now he's become Floyd's partner in crime, and is really really building up interest. You ask the man in the street about heavyweights - Haye's name is starting to become just as well known, if not more, than nearly any other HW than Klitscho.

This is shaping up to be a MAJOR fight - and whether or not you like Haye, he's smart because it means one thing - you're gonna want to watch him get KTFO, and that means more money, exposure, and status for him.

haye is what this sport needs. a loud, flashy crazy athletic black star that will attract attention. boxing does not thrive when humble men hold the world titles.
