would haye be giving wlad a rematch if he won???****ing sure he woudlnt.hayes own words where this (when i bet wlad im not tied to any silly contracts and i dont have to fight him or his brother im free to fight whoever i want)...go beat a few contenders then maybe yes..but an imediate rematch is out of the question he was made to look silly..why should he be giving a 2nd shot without earning it..he didnt even earn the 1st shot ffs
Fair play to him for clearly biting his tongue and swallowing his pride through a lot of that interview. However, he is really overplaying things still. Still making sure to say that he did the best he could do under "the circumstances"..."couldn't push through for the second faze of attack"...ect... pointing toward the toe injury that is absolutely ridiculous. Also, he flat out lied saying that even his booties that he wore on his shoes came off as he fought his way through the crowd.. (which were Haye fans BTW)... yet there is clear video evidence of his booties being removed as soon as he stepped onto the outside of the ring apron. They even zoomed in on them, ffs. Also going on about the ref who was more than fair to Haye. Taking a point away from Wlad when Haye was clearly flopping everytime he was remotely touched, and all the while letting Haye get away with blatant rabbit punches and even turning Wlad and purposely aiming a couple illegal shots to the kidney... as well as a clear forearm during a break.
I don't see what the reservations are about a rematch. I mean, that wasn't any more tedious to watch than any of Wlad's other fights in the last few years, was it? If anything, it was slightly less so, due to the animosity that people have for Haye. Who outside of the Eastern Bloc gave a **** about who Ibragimov even was, really? Not many people, and certainly nobody who wasn't a hardcore boxing fan. Who knows who Chisora is, outside his immediate family? Same answer. If Haye really doesn't have a chance to beat Wlad, surely it's a no-brainer. Who is Wlad going to fight that will offer any greater challenge to him than a rematch with Haye would?
If he wants a rematch, Haye should offer to fight next time for free. Most people bought the fight because they believed his hype. He still owes them a proper fight.
The point is that it was such a one sided fight, that there is absolutely no reason to see a rematch other than to see if Wlad knocks him out this time. We can't even sit and wonder what would happen if Haye landed flush hard shots on Wlad... because he did, and nothing happened. The press conferences, ect... everything would just seem silly if they were to fight again right away. Also, there is no way that they can generate as much money for an immediate rematch and expect everyone to buy right back into the hype. Wlad would be much better off to keep on his career racking up more victories against the best available opponents to build on his legacy. I am sure that between the IBF, WBO, and WBA titles that he is going to have a mandatory challenger which he is due to fight soon anyways. Especially coming off the heels of a voluntary defense/unification fight.
There wasn't a huge amount in the rounds, sure Wlad won most of them, but he most certainly didn't dominate each of them and win them by a distance. Let's be honest here, neither man landed very much the whole fight, Wlad only caught Haye properly a few times and looked frustrated as hell for most the fight. All this 'it was a total one sided beatdown' rubbish is just that, it simply never happened. Wlad won most the rounds but he sure wasn't winning them by a huge margin.
Haye should get straight back in there with Vitali who wants the fight, then call it a day. Should he somehow win a fight with Vit, the Wlad would be huge again, if not possibly even bigger, with Haye coming out of retirement for redemption and revenge on the other brother. It's a promotional dream.
I would love to see it, and as you said, its still the biggest fight for Wlad. And I think we'd see more aggression from both fighters, this next time. But more aggression from just one fighter would be enough for a dramatic ending.
I thought he came across quite well in that interview. Admitted he was beaten by the better man and was quite humble (by his standards anyway!). He also said he'd postpone his retirement for another shot at Wlad. He's not going to fight anyone except a Klitschko and he should concentrate on Vitali. Both guys want it and Haye will just have to accept whatever contract he's offered. A Haye-Vitali fight would still do good business in the UK.
Right, it was not as one sided as some seem to say. And it was certainly not one sided enough to dismiss Haye. He certainly did well enough, and tagged Wlad hard enough, to mark him up, which noone else can do. Haye also slipped the jab better than anyone Wlad has faced.
