Haye beat a unified champion and then unified with another champion, so forgive me isn't this povetkins first title fight ?

He obviously has the better heavyweight resume because haye has only fought there once, but career resume as it stands he is head and shoulders above povetkin.

Chapman and Johnson aren't bums but the joke part is he could've fought Skeleton who is more proven than these undefeated guys. I would favor Skeleton over those two guys.

 

I just woke up. Skelton has only lost to Chagev and Williams and he split two with Williams.

 

All I can say is that if Haye fights Mercer it´s shameful.

That also makes his comments on Monte Barrett not being a worthy opponent sound really hypcritical. I have no doubt Barrett would dismantle Mercer with ease.

 

And the point is clearly missing a very relevant factor.

Toney started at middleweight. Holyfield was a natural CW when the CW limit was 190lb. Holyfield fought Tyson in his 17th heavyweight fight and weighed in at 215lbs. That's about the same weight as Haye came to the ring at against Mormeck. In five of his first ten HW fights Holyfield weighed in at 208 or lower. You're just not making a like for like comparison.

If Haye had fought in Holyfield's era he would always have been a heavyweight and no-one would even consider him a 'small' one.

The question should be 'how many boxers whose natural fighting weight at the start of their heavyweight career was around 215 - 220lbs have been successful at heavyweight?' And the answer is 'a lot'.

 

Are we taking the next opponent in to account now when considering resume?!
