He's supposed to be the heavyweight champ -- THE man. He's inherited the mantle of boxing giants such as Ali and Louis. Then he comes out and gives an utterly lackluster display against an opponent who looked like he didn't even want to be there, and was pretty much a stationary target. Klit barely threw any combinations, looked gassed at various points, appeared slow, clumsy and sluggish and even fell all over Thompson at one point and dropped them both to the canvas in an ugly heap. The only reason he finally got the 'KO victory' is because Thompson decided to just completely give up. That's not the kind of fight you expect from the supposed champion. It could be forgiven as a bad night -- everyone has them, after all -- but when you consider that the fight before this one was even WORSE, against Ibragimov...
You just can't pick on someone like Thompson, in my country we use to say "non si spara sulla Croce Rossa" which could be translated into English "you just can't shoot on an ambulance" a way to say that you just have to pity fighters like Thompson and not criticize them, they just don't have it in them.
What alot of people need to realize that styles make fights. Thompson is a 6'4 southpaw fighter with a great chin and solid defense (at least from what i saw in this fight). This on paper, and in the actual fight means long night. Haye style is so much different from thompson, klistschko style (along with his brother and lewis) is such a hard style to beat its never really been dominiated now that i think about it.
perhaps not,but at least haye will be trying to win and throwing punches. its not inconcievable to see haye beating wlad-he has as good a chance as anybody...
Exactly, at least Haye would go for broke if has too, and has the power to change a fight with one punch, Thompson never had that his disposal.
