"2 stone of extra solid lean muscle" Ask any bodybuilder or boxer worth their salt and they will tell you there is a strict difference between bulk and genuine muscle. You just cannot put that much muscle on in that time without some comprimise of speed or strength - though don't get strength muddled up with power, weight gives power thus the illusion of strength. Muscle are not great lumps of flesh there are in fact millions of strands constructed primarily from protein. These fibres need to develop and increase & that takes time. Look at any bodybuilder and you'll see these huge muscle but if they stop for just a few weeks those muscles will lose around 25%+ or more mass because the blood has left them and the existing muscle strands have shrunk as a result too. This is why some boxers can put muscle on and lose it in a few months but certain fighters like RJJ who gradually went up & up in weight now find it massively difficult to lose that muscle because they have to actually lose those muscle fibres not just decrease the fibre's expansion & blood intake. Haye will put on muscle but the gain will not actually be 2 full stone of lean muscle. Well over a stone and a half will be increased mass via blood & expansion of his existing muscle fibres.
Very true. He is just confusing lean mass with non-fat weight which is excusable. At least he has his head screwed on about bodyfat % unlike a certain Mr Khan.
He does look chubby here but boxers usually gain quite a bit of fat between fights, only to work it off.
Thanks for the video link and picture. The picture was just a bad one, Haye looks in decent shape, though watch out for how he will really look before a fight soon. Got to love the interview though where he mentions Barret beating a basketball player in his last fight. :rofl
Any guys who have an interest in bodybuilding will understand the ideas of bulking. He obviously likes his weights, and doesn't wanna be a fatarse at HW, so he is going through a bulking period to get to an appropriate lean muscle mass at HW. You don't build muscle fast when you are extremely ripped. Though i'd like to know what his calorie intake is currently, must be absolutely huge haha.
