It is a shame, and it might be wise for boxing to create a heavyweight division at 225 or 230, and a "superheavyweight" division, but this guy is just a bit too small to compete with the current giants, no matter how boring they are. He would be decimated, and it would be a disaster if he visits the pub and fattens up to 230. What a waste that would be! A pretty good (in shape) athlete in an era where there is no legitimate weight division for him beyond cruiserweight.

I don't think he's too small. He may be not good enough to overcome his size, if that's what you mean, but a man his size is big enough, with great skill and talent, to beat anyone.

The heavyweights that are 220-230 need to drop down to cruiserweight if they can't compete with the real heavyweights.

exactly, Wlad weighed at 238 in his last fight, I believe Haye is around 225-230 when he doesn't cut weight, that's not that big of a deal in th eHW division.

Haye can just do 2-3 fights against 240-250lbs's to get used to it, then he can take on the big shots of the HW division. If he sees he just cant cut it in the heavyweight, he can just move down back to cruiser.

But seeing how he creamed mac, moving up seems like the right decision.

He has a good size WTF are you talking about?! Hes 6'3 and can easily come in at 215 in tip-top shape, extremely fast and agile for a heavyweight. His weight wont matter when he is landing massive shots like that right hand that won him the fight tonight. His chin would be his only weakness. I can see him KO'ing alot of these lumbering overweight heavies.

I hope he doesn't fatten up once the weight restrictions are off. I think it's probable he'd be most effective weighing in under 220 pounds.

Haye will do fine at HW in my honest opinion. He'll be a title holder and could probably beat Peter and Chagaev.

If he's most comfortable around 215lbs, he might be able to do alright. If I was him I would work on my defense to no end. He clearly has solid offensive tools, but should learn to avoid shots. Mike Tyson was never a big Heavyweight, but he was so evasive and talented at landing his offensive arsenal that it didn't matter.

With Haye's speed and power he would have KOed Peter or Maskaev the way they plodded around for the first 2 or 3 rounds

I think Haye has to work on his defence if he´s gonna make it in the HW div.
His size is not that big of a problem if he´s skilled enough.
    Let´s see how he does.
He got rid of Macca way easier than I thought, so I will give him a fair chance before I judge him even though he seems to be a cocky *******.

Haye isnt too small, a change of diet and some weight work and he will easily be able to bulk upto 220lbs. He is 6 3" and has a big enough frame to be able to cope with the extra lbs. If Haye picks his next couple of fights sensibly then I can see him challenging for a title within 18months. Just hoping that Haye is able to breath some fresh air into a very boring hevyweight division.
